That style was verified several months ago by Jed Winokur of the Coach Archives in answer to a question by tPF member MissMuffet. He said it was a vintage early 1970s Penny and the style came before the Dinky, and that there were at least two different versions with different straps. I don't see any problems with yours.

TY hyacinth, that's not what I expected. Cool! My sister will be stoked!

Please wait for confirmation but I don't believe it's authentic. The text of the creed states that it's made in the US however the plant code in the serial number is only used for Italy.

Did this bag come from ebay or another online venue? If so, please post a link to the listing.

Fake, the creed stamping style and the turnlock and leather around it are wrong too as well as the plant code.

You guys are amazing. Thank you for helping me out. It is from e bay. I contacted the seller (who sells thrift store purchases). Hopefully she will do the right thing and refund without me having to open a case. I'm still shaking my head at how unbelievably good of a fake it is. The leather feels amazing. I would have never known if you guys hadn't told me. Still, fakes make me sick because of what they symbolize so it must go. That'll teach me to not have it authenticated here first.

Again, please post a link to the listing.

If the seller flips thrift shop purchases, chances are there are other or have been other fakes since she's clearly not authenticating her items before listing them.

This is why post #1 of this thread requires certain details for requests. http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-shopping/authenticate-this-coach-763164.html#post22406795

If there are other current, completed or sold fakes, we can look at the history, report those items and perhaps those buyers will be able to file for refunds too.

Sellers' histories are important as it's not just the current item being questioned that we look at.

BTW, the seller MUST give you a full refund and if she refuses, you will win a dispute. Generally, return shipping is at the buyer's expense, though IMO, for seller error, the seller should make you whole.

Here is the original listing:

Thanks for the information about disputes. Hopefully she will make it right before it gets to that.
