I've learned my lesson the hard way and no longer contact sellers. And in this case, clearly, the seller,
gmc_2012 didn't do the right thing by ending the listing. I recommend reporting it.
Thank you so much for your input! I am new to eBay and I do not know how I should have reacted. The listing was closed before I came here, because I won this auction and paid, but then had suspicions and came here to check. The seller was actually quite nice. He gave me a full refund and asked to cancel the transaction, which I did. He did not relist the bag, so I thought there was nothing to report. Am I wrong?
AH!! I don't think I understood that you were the winner. In that case, you were right in contacting the seller and the seller absolutely owed you a refund.
As far as reporting the listing, my feeling is that fakes should always be reported. That way, it's on record (with ebay) that the seller listed fake(s) and listings were removed. Sadly, there are many, many sellers who know their items are fake but when confronted, they offer profuse apologies, plead ignorance and issue refunds. Many of them wait a while before relisting.
In the case of your seller,
gmc_2012, this isn't the first time the seller listed a fake and had it removed. This post is from February when the same seller had a fake listed and removed. CLearly, the seller hasn't learned to authenticate before listing:
