You might want to do a google search or a search of TPF for references to the seller 2muchpackingtape and her many ID's. Here's just one post: http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-shopping/authenticate-this-coach-694619-629.html#post21571248

Good catch, BB, I'd forgotten that ID.

I am back with more details on a bag referenced in this post.

Here are better pictures. I took a better one of the creed stamp, too. It's about 10 inches wide, 7.5 inches tall, around 3-4 inches deep. I'm interested to see what you think, and let me know if I need to get any more info together for you.

It looks like an Austin Bag, style 9909 from the early 1990s.

Hi!

Item: Coach Crossbody Purse Black
Listing number: 181137179384
Seller: bixbyfootball

Comments:Just wondering if this is authentic!thanks!:)

We need a clear readable photo of the creed patch and serial number. And we never recommend that anyone buys a highly-faked brand like Coach without that very important photo. If the seller is willing to send you a photo or to add one to the listing we'll take another look.

The one on Etsy definitely looks like a fake.

There are probably a lot more fakes of older leather Coaches than most people could ever imagine. The hardest part was getting the creed and serial stampings accurate. In fact it wouldn't surprise me if they're still being made somewhere in the world, Coaches are easy to copy as long as someone's willing to buy decent leathers and hire experienced leatherworkers.

A lot of the bags from the 1990s were highly faked, the Pat's Legacy, Taft, Willis, Station, Duffle Sac, and some of the Lightweights were probably the most common. We've even seen a fake of one of the Madison bags, even though that small pebble grain leather must have been expensive to produce or buy. Very few styles were immune although the very early vintage styles probably weren't on the fakes-makers' radar until some time around the 1980s.

Many, many thanks for this invaluable information!

As far as reporting the listing, my feeling is that fakes should always be reported. That way, it's on record (with ebay) that the seller listed fake(s) and listings were removed. Sadly, there are many, many sellers who know their items are fake but when confronted, they offer profuse apologies, plead ignorance and issue refunds. Many of them wait a while before relisting.

In the case of your seller, gmc_2012, this isn't the first time the seller listed a fake and had it removed. This post is from February when the same seller had a fake listed and removed. CLearly, the seller hasn't learned to authenticate before listing:

Thank you! I cannot claim (of course) that gmc_2012 knew it was a fake, but he surely has not learned to authenticate before listing, which is too bad. So I believe you are right and fakes should always be reported.
