Without a picture of the creed and more closeup photos of logos, it's impossible to authenticate. But I do have an important caveat.

Be very careful with listings on ebay.ph. We've been seeing an awful lot of scary "good" fakes coming out of the Philippines and unless you know exactly what to look for, even experienced authenticators can be fooled.

While I know that buyers want to patronize their own country's sellers, I can't recommend buying from within the Philippines.

Search the site for various authentications of Filippino listings. There are many issues that have been noted.

yeah i know..i've been buying coach bags since year 2010 but from the U.S. and from those years i can easily spot a fake coach just by looking at them (not even a closer look) but just last year, i bought a coach chelsea emerson here in ebay.ph for about $120. and it does look soooo real i swear! the stitches, lining, the creed, serial, care card, the interior wow that satin interior. plus it has a price tag attached! omg! i actually thought i bought a real one. thou, i kinda noticed that the detachable longer strap is not holding right. but i ignored it. after a couple of days, i received a very concern message from another ebayer and she told me that she saw my feedback from that seller and asked me if i know that what i bought is just a replica coach(class A fake). coz she already saw the same pics from a facebook seller that sell replica coach bags. then i check that facebook accnt and texted the seller if she knew the name of the seller i bought from. and yeah she said its one of her reseller and she doesnt know that her reseller is claiming that the bags are authentic.
sorry for the long story. :sweatdrop:

Hello, I think my request got lost amongst a flurry yesterday. I do apologise if someone is looking into this! I don't want to be pushy at all.

Please help authenticate this:

Thank you!
Mary
Sorry, I wasn't ignoring you. I just don't know anything about it. I was hoping Hyacinth, Demram or noshoepolish would chime in.

I suspect this is another brand put into a Coach box. The seller says there is no tag attached to the scarf. I would love to know the significance of those dates and symbols.
Name: Classic Coach Silk Scarf (1988) mint with original packagingSeller: dorothyh52

By the way, I googled the dates around the edge and came up with Sir Humphry Davy, the discoverer of chlorine!

Thanks whateve, I didn't think anyone would ignore me, you're all really helpful. I do wonder if it's got people stumped though; it's an odd one!

Anyone have any ideas? I've gone for it, as it was so cheap (by buying a coach bag in Britain standards) that I had nothing to lose. I'd just like to know what on earth this old lady is!

I would have bought it too. It was cheap even by American standards. I'm sure it is authentic. I've just never seen one like it. I hope you get an answer soon.

I don't think it was made by Coach either - they ALWAYS put at least one trademark on everything they make - if they didn't, by law it would allow anyone else to copy and sell the item with no way to stop them. And even in the "old days" the owners of Coach were still businesspeople and would have protected their trademarks. Even the very earliest scarves Coach ever sold (1989 Holiday catalog) all have Coach logos and are classic Italian-designed floral and paisley prints and are heavy silk, NOT something that looks like a free giveaway.

The box has no connection with the scarf.

Interesting about the chlorine - I doubt if Sir Humphrey's descendants are passing out freebies to mark the occasion though! :D

Thanks! I don't own any Coach scarves that don't have some kind of logo on them.

It looks to me like a commemorative piece, like something you would find as a souvenir from a museum. I swear it looks familiar.... And looks very New England. Going to look around to see why it looks familiar to me.

It's a really sad situation when a few dishonest people give their entire country a bad name, but it's become a big problem with so many name brand or designer items from Ebay.ph. And like you noticed, the details that point to something being a fake can be so small that it may take actually using the item to realize that something's wrong.

We urge anyone buying from Ebay.ph sellers OR sellers who claim to be located in the US but may be hiding the actual shipping location to have Coach items authenticated here, and to NEVER buy anything without clear photos of important details like the creed patch, serial number and hardware. Of course those photos can be stolen or faked too so the safest thing is to buy from a well-known seller with a strong record of selling genuine Coach items, preferably not in the Philippines, and to verify everything you can before you buy.

Posting listings for suspected fakes here helps too, as it exposes the seller's name and illegal business practices.

We're sorry you got scammed. I know payment methods like bank transfers are a popular method of payment outside the US, but we always urge people to pay with a major credit card (NOT debit card!) where the bank or organization will cancel the transaction and credit the account of someone who's paid for a fake with their credit card, or to use Paypal when possible. The more ways that are available to get a refund in case of a fraudulent purchase, the better it is for the buyer.

vintage coach authentication?

comments/ questions:
they do have one pic of the creed- and state that its 70's- is it pre- serial number?

are the 'vintage' coaches less likely to be fakes than the newer ones?
Yes it is pre serial number, probably from the 70's. It's authentic but it isn't a city bag. It looks like a convertible clutch. I've seen many fake vintage Coaches but I don't recall if I've seen any with a NYC creed.

Yes, the first is also a Station Bag. They both look genuine.
