Comments: Hyacinth - I know you're interested in seeing creed patches from the "A" plant... What do you think about this one? 1996? The Carousel wasn't still a new style then... Comments?
Thanks!

It doesn't seem to matter if they were new styles so the plant can't have been making just Pilot bags. Interesting that the original plant was apparently still producing a few bags even into the mid-1990s, unless the A code had been switched to a different plant.

Here are 2 other 1996 creeds from the A plant, plus the black one from the Carousel Bag. The spacing on all three is slightly different, with the K month code showing the widest spacing. The E and F month codes are spaced just a bit differently but the individual numbers and digits in the serial look the same, and so does the creed itself. Those at least seem genuine, and maybe they all are. I'm still collecting photos though - thanks for the "heads-up".

Hyacinth,

Here are my concerns regarding these bags.

I have these two, which I have pulled because of everyone's concerns and now my own as I do not want to jeopardize my status, again. I don't understand how I could have purchased this bag in the past from Salearea and the bag was not reported there? Anyways, I guess that is neither here nor there.
I noticed how you mentioned that the piping was always sewn and centered on the bottom, but I notice on both of these bags it was it was finished on the side. Is it possible that they were manufactured incorrectly, like an "irregular"? The Creed on both bags just looks too perfect to me. I see nothing wrong with either one of them. Also, I had this exact bag that Jed Winokour at Coach New York City bought from me last year. I don't understand? I am attaching pics for you here of all the bags I have currently in this style. Regarding the green bag I sold to Jed - I can't find the photos on my computer. I must have deleted them. I am going to contact him tomorrow and speak to him. This is just really upsetting me as I am earnestly trying to run a legitimate business and service my customers to the best of my ability. I will have him send me photos of the bag and maybe he can send a message to the forum directly. I just don't see how all of these bags can be out there modified or is there something I am missing here or am just not understanding.
I appreciate that one of the girls did contact me directly to inform me that you folks were going to report, however, the Creed on these bags is near perfect and the issues you folks are gong on does not seem justified. As I mentioned, I will be contacting Jed at Coach in the morning and will let you know what he says.
Thanks for at least giving me the heads up before contacting Ebay this time.
Sincerely,
Lauren

Thanks for responding. This style seems to be a new one for everyone here and the strap design isn't like anything we've seen before.

If Jed can give a style number and name and when it was made, that would be more than enough for me. He's more than welcome here any time, as a reader or poster. I think everyone's concern is that we've never seen - or never noticed - that kind of strap mounting before, and it just seems like it wouldn't be the best way of attaching a strap. Maybe it was just a short-lived style that was either discontinued or modified to change the strap fastening when Coach realized that there was a better way of doing it. The only times I've seen straps clipped directly through grommets have been on newer bags, mostly fabric styles, and they've had extra-large grommets that can handle the stress of the strap.

The reason I mentioned the Dinky is because of the measurements and the pocket arrangement since those seem to match how Coach describes the Dinky in their catalogs. Maybe there was an earlier version? I only have one catalog from 1983 which seems to be when the Dinky was introduced but the book shows a sewn-on tubular strap. I can't find any other small bags with the same design features but like I said, there aren't a lot of catalogs available from the late 70s and early 80s. The style is also a bit older than the time period I'm familiar with.

It looks like someone's restitched a few places, and not very well either. As bad as their Quality Control has sometimes been, I can't believe they would have let something like that out of the factory.

I can't tell if your picture of the end of the dowel rod shows the leather covering over the end or just plain wood. If it's wood, is it like that on both ends?

Yes, there is no leather covering on both ends

That's not a good sign. It's possible that maybe the original dowel was damaged and replaced and that's why it was re-stitched, but when there's both bad stitching and no leather covers on the dowel ends, there's a chance that the bag might not be genuine although the other details seem ok. I wouldn't want anyone to report it but I personally wouldn't buy it, the wonky stitching just by itself would be a turnoff.

Comments: Is this an authentic Brooklyn bag, the tattersal lining has me wondering? I found some references in these threads post 5234 http://forum.purseblog.com/coach/id-coach-item-post-any-coach-item-name-355205-349.html and Hyacinth's response post 5240 http://forum.purseblog.com/coach/id-coach-item-post-any-coach-item-name-355205-350.html

This listing already ended but I was wondering about it. Thanks!

I think this is the MFF version. It did have tattersall lining and the turnlocks IIRC. But someone correct me if I'm wrong...need the creed obviously lol...

Thanks BeenBurned - I'm so excited! I usually go for the old classics but this one is a cutie and you can't beat the price!
You're welcome!
Odd coach kid size suede bag...to me looks great minus the fact that there aren't any numbers on the creed tag. Fake or real?

Mug used for scale
It's authentic. It's some type of suede embossed pouch and is fine without a serial number.

This post is helpful in explaining smaller accessory items.

The creed would certainly help but it looks good to me.
