Is this bag real? Is X a real plant code? Also something looks off with the font on the creed patch. Thank you all for your expertise.

(Slightly off topic - I contacted a seller who had a Coach bag listed and embossed as Made in Korea. She was extremely gracious and removed the listing when I pointed out some problems with the bag and suggested it might not be authentic. So thank you all for teaching us!)

Wait for Hyacinth. As far as I know, X was a valid plant code for the Dominican Republic. I don't know if it was used for a US plant in 2001. I agree that the font is a little weird, but not as troubling as those really thick fonts. The details of the bag look authentic.

I'm glad you were able to help out a seller with a fake. Most sellers are gracious and grateful but occasionally you can come across one that is less than nice.

Please remember, before the late 2000s every plant had its own stamps and often the fonts used in both creeds and serial nu,bers could be very different among different plants. The only time you can expect creeds to be identical is when they're from the same plant, month and year. Even then I've seen evidence that larger plants may have used more than one creed or serial stamp and there might be slight differences between the two. And the same serial number was sometimes used by more than one plant although not at the same time.

"X" is a genuine plant code that was used by the US in the late 1990s and by the DR in the early 2000s. I don't have any information or comparison photos for September of 2001 so I can't say if that's the correct code or not. BUT - I have a pretty good feeling that one's fake. The inside pocket zipper is hard to see completely but it's wavy. The stitching on the base - the piping on the front and back of the base - is really sloppy. And the hardware is nickel or nickel-colored but in the photo of the top of the bag you can see that the back of the buckle is stamped "solid brass". There may be at least one more problem but there aren't any photos of the area I need to see.

It's hard to say for sure that it's fake but there's no way I'd buy it. And the more I look at it, the more I want to report it. Or if anyone knows the seller "debmaxi", maybe they can point out the problems to her.

If you re-read the posts, there was nothing that implied (or stated) that your items weren't authentic. With so many feedbacks mentioning slow shipping, that is something buyers want to take into consideration.

You certainly have the right to block anyone you choose but IMO it's unprofessional and tacky to mention it in the feedback. As a buyer, I'd rather see an unemotional response to what you consider to be an undeserved feedback ding. Most of the buyer comments have your replies admitting errors or research yet you still reply "will be blocked!" or "has been blocked!"

As for ebay verifying authenticity of your items before being able to list them, that doesn't happen. Ebay doesn't question them unless and until a seller's listings are reported. And even then, sellers get a few "passes" before they receive restrictions.

You have nice items and when you sell enough, you'll have problem buyers, problems with USPS or other issues. It will serve you well to take a deep breath and practice better customer service. It's never to your benefit to respond to complaints before you've taken the time to cool off.
Ebay does verify sellers who list large amounts of items. We had to send in actual receipts before our restriction was lifted. And you are correct, more volume equals more frustrated buyers but we stick to our policy of blocking so we can maintain our top seller, power seller status!! Its definitely not done out of anger. Also, a lot of the slow shipping was due to international shipments or post office delays which we have no control over. We ship our items the same day or no more than 24 hours after the buyer has paid...another stipulation to obtain top seller status which is very hard to get and keep.

As the person who first queried the board about your items - I do a fair amount of buying on eBay (not usually purses) and actually have a lot of sympathy for sellers. I also read the eBay forum on Reddit and it seems eBay, through buyer protection etc., empowers the buyer in a way that allows a small few buyers to take advantage or be unreasonable. So I don't begrudge a small amount of negative feedback on yours or any other seller's record per se.

It was, as BeenBurned says, a reaction to your responses which seemed angry and as if you feel the buyer is always wrong. All caps and exclamation points are typically used to express anger in online communication. I see other big sellers with similar small negative feedback and if I read a graceful response I tend to mentally side with the seller.

Ok..Point taken. You are correct..all caps does translate to anger no matter what the situation. Thanks for the constructive feedback. We will be sure to keep that in mind for the future!

Hi there,

I would like to check the authenticity of this Coach handbag A2J-6045. I had tried Google the numbers but couldn't find it anywhere. Could someone help me, please? (Sorry about the photos attached, I've tried to rotate it earlier)

Thanks in advance! :smile1:
