Thanks!

Sorry, I don't think the Hippie Flap is genuine. The stitching especially on the inside pocket is uneven, the two ends of the inside pocket zipper pull aren't finished off correctly and the zipper is too wavy, and the year and month codes don't match the known production dates of that style. The creed stamp is also too "puffy" and has several other things wrong with it. Compare it to this genuine version which wasn't introduced until 3 years after the date on your bag:

The second one is a Pocket Purse and I think it's probably ok.

Name: Coach Navy Blue Leather Tote
Item No. 160936263541
Seller: Lexies_Stuff

Comments: I took a closer look at the listing (was too quick to bid and was hoping I'd be out bid since I read closer, well I ended up winning) and see that the seller doesn't know for sure if the bag is authentic. I have not paid yet and wanted to get your advice first. I think it's real but I'll rely on you guys!

The seller is responsible for verifying authenticity before she lists the item. She was lucky no one reported her, and her disclaimer has no legal grounds - Coach doesn't "certify" anything either as genuine OR replica.

The bag is genuine though. I think it's from the Lightweight line and was called a Light Tote, depending on where Coach measured the length. Style number was 4065 and it's from the late 1980s or early 1990s.

It seems to be an original but I've also seen some very good fake ones lately...

Name: Vintage Coach Bucket in dark brown
Listing number: 261141985446
Seller: 09houseoflola

The seller seems to be a good one obviously despite not having 100% in feedback. She claims that the bag to be new and unused but it seems used to me...isn't it?

Please let me know of your thoughts ladies...

Thank you!!

Thank you, I just got a notice that eBay has removed the item and I can no longer purchase it, so confused. Thanks Hyacinth!

I don't know anything about the second one but the first one doesn't have enough pictures to authenticate. The first two pictures are stock photos. We need a picture of the creed as well as more closeups of the bag.

The seller does NOT seem reliable to me. Check their Feedback, they have more than 40 Negatives just in the last 12 months for complaints about shipping, selling items that weren't even available, items Not As Described, poor service, no response from the seller, and the condition of the merchandise. Any time a large volume seller has a Feedback rating below 99, that means that too many buyers are unhappy with that seller.

Several years ago, Ebay had a policy that only lasted for a short time, but it said that any seller with a Feedback rating they considered too low (I don't remember the exact percentage but I'm sure that this seller's number would have been below the minimum at that time) would be penalized in some way. Now it seems that sellers with low ratings - and I consider 98.5 percent as "low" - are called "top-rated". I strongly disagree with Ebay's "rating".

In the retail sales courses I've taken, we were usually told that only about ten percent of unhappy customers will actually take the time to complain about a product or a seller. The percentage is probably higher at Ebay because complaining is easier but I'm still very sure that there are many more unhappy customers than the Feedback numbers actually show.

If you want to see more of the seller's record, check their entire Feedback history at

Be patient, it takes a LONG time for this seller's history of Negatives and Neutrals to load. It actually Timed Out before the entire history could load. From what I'm reading I personally would NOT buy from this seller especially if the item is being shipped outside the US.

As for the boots, the few photos posted look like stock photos and it's impossible to authenticate anything from the photos. There's also no way to see the condition of the boots.

Thank you so much!
I'm not so experienced with buying from ebay and especially buying expensive designer stuff from ebay as you probably can tell haha.

But it is a shame, I really loved the design of these boots. Guess I'll just have to be patient and try to find them from somewhere else or similar kind.

The second one looks like a genuine Bixby Sling, style 9984. It may just be the lighting, but I'm seeing areas where the color varies a little, and the creed stamp looks as if it has one or two scratches. The seller doesn't say it's not used, just "that for a vintage item it doesn't look very used at all."

Those metal Purse keychains were faked a lot, but that one seems ok. Here's Coach's picture for comparison, style 92019

Thank you so much Hyacinth...I remembered reading here on TPF that that was a commonly faked stye, but I notice that the seller also had some other key rings/charms that I was more familiar with and they all looked OK, so I took the chance. Thanks again!

Someone may have reported her for the disclaimer, or maybe someone who doesn't know anything about older styles thought that it broke some so-called "rule". But it looks genuine to me.
