Item: Odd bag. Odd color. Flap bag with a snap closure.
Bought at goodwill for $1 so no big loss if it's not real.

Comments: to me almost everything about this bag is kinda oddball. Especially the fact that the inside of the flap is leather lined. No hangtag. it's approx 8" across by 7" high when the flap is closed.

any insight would be greatly appreciated. TY

It's a Bistro Bag style 4125 from the Lightweight (Soho) line, from around 1993.

It's hard to be sure either way about that one. The serial number has a few problems and there's also a small problem with the construction of the bag. And I'm always leery of "Coaches" with broken zippers, in normal use it's really rare to see a genuine Coach with a broken zipper. There are just too many questions about that bag.

Thank you for the information! I really liked the color of this bag and let that get my better judgement of not authenticating first. Once I receive the bag if the quality is not there I will try to return it since its already iffy. Thank you for the help!

Edit - this is what was listed on the sellers site "We will NEVER list an item we feel is fake. We try our best to compare serial numbers, hardware, and other factors to decide if an item is authentic BEFORE we consider listing it. We ask that our buyers use their own objective when deciding about an item and trust that we would never intentionally post an item that isn't authentic."

So I guess I will have to wait and see what it looks like, but if you can think of anything else I can check when it gets here that would help authenticate it please let me know! Thanks!!

I can't find a Coach stock picture for this bag but I have seen this style plenty of times on ebay and it looks fine to me.

Looks good to me also.:smile1:

There's nothing else I can think of. Maybe when you receive it you can post again about any problems you might find - please be sure to link to or mention the original post number if you ask about it again. Let's hope someone familiar with that style may have an answer.

And keep in mind, a seller "checking" a serial number usually means they just look to be sure the style number matches the bag. Many of them have no idea about what else can make a number definitely or possibly fake. AFAIK I'm the only one who's actually tried to figure out things like codes and what's normal and what isn't - at least no one else has ever posted or published what I would consider an accurately-researched guide. Unfortunately at least one of the most popular ones claiming to give dates to some serial number types is as much as ten years or more off on many of their dates.

Most sellers honestly try to do the best they can to be sure something's genuine, but too many depend on their own experience instead of that of a qualified authenticator or even the posters here or at Ebay's own forums.
