I was given a "coach" wallet, and it's too small. I have kept it in my closet for 2 years, and just listed it on Listia. Someone said it's a fake...? I have no idea. How do I go about having it verified?

1. It's style number 9725, the Madison Satchel. There is a larger version, 9765, that has a detachable shoulder strap.

2. It "might" be OK, but I would ask for a creed photo. ALSO, check the sides of the bag...it appears that the hardware holding the strap is different on each side...plus it looks silver colored. You have to copy & paste the auction number because the link doesn't work.

3. Not enough pictures.

1st, genuine Madison Satchel, but style number is 9725

2nd, no way to authenticate without a clear legible photo of the creed stamp, especially since the plant code from the serial number in the description is an ususual one and normally wouldn't have been making purses

3rd, again, no creed photo, and we need one to authenticate.

On a different note, I have read several of you posts about "replica bags" as a result I have gotten rid of one Dooney in my collection that was pulled from Listia. I had listed it thinking it was real, after it was pulled I came here as directed by the moderator and found that a bag just like mine had been deemed a fake. I had thought it was genuine for many years and this site brought to my attention that it was not. After reading what you have said about these bags I am absolutely reformed. It's not right for co.s to make a bag that is not what it is claimed to be. By replicating bags and selling them it devalues the perception of the brand by others making cheap knockoffs and pushing them as real. I am going through the bags I have and getting rid of ones that I can say are fakes and in the future I will be sure to purchase bags from Coach Stores and Coach's online retail store. Due to your knowledge I have been able to search here on the forum and verify that several I have are genuine by other bags posted here. I appreciate what you do and just wanted to say thanks!! :D

The fakes industry also creates much more serious problems, since most counterfeits manufacturing is controlled by various national and international crime organizations and even terrorist groups. They ignore all kinds of restrictions most legitimate companies follow such as local environmental, fair labor practices and child labor laws and some have been known to keep children 8 or 9 years old and even younger as virtual slave labor, going so far as to break their legs so they couldn't leave their workstations.

There are plenty of legitimate and honest sellers of genuine bags of all brands, but it's critical that you have them authenticated here or at the appropriate tPF forum before buying or bidding. With so many great styles that aren't available in stores any more it would be a shame to cut yourself off from that part of the "pre-loved" market.

Yes, it's fake, the comments in your listing are correct. Coach never made that kind of interior, and the C pattern is off-center. You need to remove that listing, fakes can't be traded or sold anywhere in the US, and they should never be donated either.
