Item: Coach Black Leather Court Cross Body Flap Shoulder Bag Purse 9870

Listing number: I'm not sure where to find this. I'm sorry!

Seller: luck.runs.out

Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-Black..._Handbags&hash=item3a748dba59#ht_16401wt_1099

Comments: There are a lot of photos down at the bottom. I would just like to know from another source if it is authentic before I bid. I have never bought a bag off of eBay before so I am a little nervous.

Thank you for all of your help!

We really need to see the entire creed and serial number to be sure something's authentic.

The first one is probably a genuine Carlyle Bag, style 9854 from around 1990 but the creed photo isn't clear.

The Station Bag looks genuine but contrary to what the seller says in her listing, it's NOT "true vintage" which means 20 years of age or more, and NOT from 1965-1976. It was only made in 1996, and the top handle is showing wear and damage. Coach won't repair that kind of damage, you'll have to pay a shoemaker or cobbler to do it..

For the future, please read post number one in this thread, it explains the information and format we need for future authentications. Thanks!

The Listing number is the Item Number, near the right side of the auction page.
The bag is a genuine Court Bag from 2001.

Dear Ladies,

Would you kindly authenticate this bag, and provide me with name and estimated year of the production? Thanks so much!

Sorry, since it's an older bag and was made before 1994 when the style numbers were included in the serial number, we need one or two more photos - full front at least to show the shape of the bag and front flap, plus measurements and a quick description of any pockets the bag has - inside, open or zipped? Any pockets on the back of the bag or underneath the front flap? That sort of thing. Or photos of the pockets, but always measurements on older or vintage bags.

Thanks!

I guess ebay doesn't want buyers to ask questions so they keep moving the button. If you scroll all the way down to the bottom of the listing page, under "questions and answers about the item," there's an "ask a question" link.

Of course. Thanks for letting me know that it is before 1994 (how did you identify that?). The dimensions are 8.5 x 7.5 x 3.25. I attached photos of the front and side of the bag. Thanks again!

Thanks! It was called a Quincey Bag, style number 9919, from 1993. It's genuine.

Serial numbers in genuine bags from 1994 or later will always start with a letter of the alphabet, which indicates what month the item was made. Bags or items made before 1994 didn't use any kind of production codes.

Thank you, Hyacinth and BeenBurned, for your help in authenticating the bag! My mum ended up deciding black was a more versatile colour so I'm about to buy either of the following items (black 18620 Sophias):

1.
Item: 160786750968
Seller: leelaadzinecouture
Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NWT-COACH-M...18620-498-BLACK-GOLD-/130697014120#vi-content

2.
Item: 160786750968
Seller: nancybags
Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NWT-Coach-1...ather-Sophia-Satchel-Black-/160786750968#shId

Both look pretty safe, the second one has internal pictures, and the sellers are top-rated, but I thought I'd check in here before I clicked buy. Your opinions would be much appreciated!

IMO, both listings don't show red flags but need clear closeup pictures of the creed.

Listing #1 also should show a picture of the inside of the bag and listing #2 should show a closeup straight on pic of the horse and carriage plaque.
