Item: Caoch Evening Purse Swarvoski Crystals On Buckle

Comments: I came across this little satin bag on ebay that was poorly listed. I noticed that both Coach and Swarovski were misspelled and that the pictures are very fuzzy and that the seller only has one feedback response. But I figured that “perhaps she is foreign-born and spells poorly and she is a new seller and poor photographer!” Hey, it could happen!

I also noticed that bag has the wrong hangtag but that happens pretty often.

I sent a message to the vendor asking about the number on the creed and the printing on the hangtag and she responded “…writing on tag PO#05124 GE273, Coach Leatherware EST 1941; number on patch inside bag K045-1417.”

Now I know that 1417 is not the correct style number for that bag so I have come to the reluctant conclusion that it is a fake, although I find it hard to believe that this little specialty bag is a likely candidate for a fake!

Do you agree that it is a fake and if so, should I tell the vendor or just report it? Thanks!

The Coach stamp on the leather front tab is fake and the tab is much too long, the hangtag is fake and id the wrong shape, inside zipper pull is wrong, creed patch stitching is wrong, along with the fake serial number.

If you want to tell the seller, go ahaead. You should also tell them that they need to have any name brands they sell authenticated.

And we've seen fakes of similar styles before. There's also a possibility that the misspelling of Coach in the title was deliberate as a way of avoiding selling restrictions on new sellers, in which case the seller is a sneak who doesn't deserve any sympathy. And yes, that's very cynical of me.

That crossed my mind too but I gave her the benefit of the doubt and told her about the fake. She responded immediately, thanked me for the advice, deleted the listing, and asked where she can get authentication for other Coach bags that she has purchased items from "reliable vendors" so that she can check them out first.

So that went well, thank you!

Comments: I'm not sure about this one, but I'm crossing my fingers. I posted in the ID This forum about a purse I bought a few years ago. It was ID'd as a Hamptons Vintage Leather Clutch/Wristlet 41630. The poster said it came in teal, gray and espresso. Did they also make it in this green color?

Thanks for any help you can give me, I really like this bag! :smile1:

I don't recognise the style but maybe someone else will. The details look genuine.

Unfortunately, she didn't "delete" the listing as she told you. Ebay removed it.

I'd missed the listing you asked about but saw that it was a relist of this one that ended on March 9:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Caoch-Eveni...717?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item231ae179a5
and this one that ended on March 8:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Caoch-Eveni...561?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item231a939789

Ended Feb. 29:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Caoch-Eveni...517?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item231a4b14dd
Relisted and ended March 1 -- see the reason it was ended. I bet someone told her it was fake:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Caoch-Eveni...982?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item231a93a4e6

(And call me cynical too. I also suspect the misspelled "Caoch" name as a way to stay under the radar as well as allowing her to have 1-day listings!)

My sense is that becky321-us didn't make an honest mistake.
