Thank you for all your help and info! I'll keep looking. I only have the stock photo to go by, so if anyone here has pictures of the real deal they would share, I'd be grateful. I don't even know what size it should be. This one is smaller and lighter than I thought it would be, but that's just speculation as I've never seen one in person. This one is 1 3/8" from nose to tail.

I think the size of the metal one is smaller than the leather charms, just comparing it to the size of the keyring. Measuring to the outer edges, Coach keyrings are about 1.25 inches across, and the dog on Coach's keyring looks to be almost the same size as the keyring.

I don't remember even seeing one on Ebay before although there may have been a few. If you're heart's not set on the metal one, they also did a larger Jack Russell in leather, I remember seeing one on Bonanza recently, unless that was another breed of terrier. It's bigger and you don't have to worry about the enamel chipping off. It won't have a red coat but at least you don't have to worry about it being counterfeit.

The charm on mine is just a nose (literally) larger than the ring, so it sounds like the size is correct.

I do have my heart set on this style. I always loved the Coach JRT ads since they look like my dogs (Toy Fox Terriers... just a bit smaller than JRTs). I decided that I wanted to have a themed Coach purse: red leather with silver hardware to match the red leather / silver Coach dog collars, and adorned with all the JRT fobs. So far, I have the leather one, the multi charm one, and I added the silver dog bone just because it fit in. The red coat is the last one I need. I started working on this in early 2009, so it's taken me a loooong time. It's definitely a quest. :smile1:

I'll continue to keep my eyes open.

Just a note that from the creed, it seems like this was a Factory made bag from 1999, but the woman bought it only a few years ago at a Coach outlet so I'm confused on the year. Anyone around, BB I see you on here, that can take a fast look at this one? Thanks!

I'm here but my area of expertise isn't bags of this era. I don't see any obvious problems but please wait for authenticity confirmation from others.

As for the seller's claim to have purchased from the outlet a few years ago, there are a few possibilities:

1. She might be mistaken about how long ago she purchased
2. She may have bought from someone else who made the claim about having purchased from the outlet recently
3. It's possible that with Coach's liberal return policy, someone might have returned it several years after purchase and this seller may have purchased it after

As for the age of the bag and when bought, that's really irrelevant as long as an item is authentic.

ETA: I don't see where the seller says she bought it at the outlet just a few years ago.

Hi BB, thanks for weighing in. The seller emailed me to answer a question and said she bought the bag at an outlet 3-3.5 years ago, and purchased it herself at the Coach Store in Towson, MD. I don't want a bag that new because the leather was thicker in the 1999 bags, at least from my experience that's been the case. So I'm trying to figure out if it's a 1999 bag or not before the auction ends in 45 minutes (I just found it a few minutes ago, otherwise I'd have asked about it sooner). Maybe Hyacinth or Dem Ram will see this soon.

Good luck! I'm hoping that you have a Search for it saved on Ebay.

It was made in June of 1999. But I don't see anything showing when she bought it, just an outlet stamp. It looks authentic to me.

(ETA - never mind, I just saw your answer to BeenBurned about when she bought it. It's possible but there's no way to prove it, and it's still a 1999 year code.)

Thanks so much for the fast reply Hyacinth! I'm trying to use your notes over on eBay to determine the year, factory, etc. before asking questions here, but this one threw me for a loop given she swears she bought it at a Coach store (it's possible she doesn't know that we here consider an outlet and a boutique two different types of stores), and that she bought it only a few years ago. I started thinking if it was 2009, it should say "09", not the "9" stated in the creed so I got confused. Anyway, many thanks for confirming year.

I also assumed that the "F" was for Factory since it has a ding that looks original to the bag on the inside front pocket, but there is a barely visible part of a bullseye stamp to the upper right corner of the creed. Is the F or the bullseye the mark for outlet, or is it both?

"F" only indicates an item made for the outlets when it's the first digit of the second half of the serial number, in front of the style number. When it's at the very beginning of the serial number it's just a month code.

Thanks for the clarification as I wasn't completely sure about that when reading the eBay guide. May I ask one more question, more for educational purposes - This particular bag looks in almost unused condition, however there are a few imperfections that seem out of the norm for a Coach new bag - for instance, there is a ding on the inside slip pocket, and a couple of lines that are more noticeable than normal markings, as well as some irregular coloring on the bottom. When Coach made bags specifically for the Factory Outlets, was it because those pieces of leather has some markings on them that deemed them 'seconds'? Just curious. Thanks!
