Good morning:

Item: Coach Brown Soho Tote 4155
Seller: Cinzaw (on Etsy), Cinza (on eBay)
She states she is not sure of authenticity and it is listed on Etsy. I would like to purchase but was hoping to get it authenticated first. I believe she had posted a pic here previously.

Thanks in advance!

IF THE BAG CAN'T BE AUTHENTICATED, SHE SHOULDN'T BE SELLING IT.
The listing says

"The patch inside says:
Coach
This is a Coach bag. It was handcrafted in the United States of completely natural glove tanned cowhide. The variations in the grain are characteristic of natural full grained leather
F6B - 4155
Made in United States

I can not say if this is authentic or not."

THE SELLER IS A tPF MEMBER AND SHOULD KNOW BETTER THAN TO SELL ANY NAME-BRAND ITEM THAT CAN'T BE AUTHENTICATED. Etsy's Rules may be vague, but most of the Forum members here do NOT think that it's ok to sell a name-brand item unless you're 100 percent sure that it's genuine. If the seller isn't sure - and neither are the authenticators here, which is the case in this situation - THE ITEM SHOULD NOT BE LISTED FOR SALE. The seller asked here ONLY about the validity if the number and never posted photos of the bag so it's never been formally authenticated. The very widely spaced creed wording and mix of different fonts in the serial number would have caused me to call it "questionable" if actual photos of it had been posted here.

If the bag was ever listed like that on Ebay it would be a clear violation of Ebay rules and subject to immediate removal. Sorry if the seller doesn't see it that way, but that bag shouldn't be listed and I don't recommend bidding on it.

If the other authenticators here or the seller think I'm being too harsh or would like to comment, please do.

That seller is a member here and should know better than to have authenticity disclaimers. Whether on ebay, Etsy, Bonz, or any other site, every seller has the obligation to KNOW that her items are authentic or they should be authenticated before listing them.

Personally, I'd find another seller who does her due diligence before listing.

JMHO.

And if that's the way Cinza (Ebay) or Cinzaw (Etsy) thinks, I don't recommend that seller at all!

I had the creed checked on Purseforum..
it got OK as a valid creed..

I say
I do not know if its authentic and honestly I dont know that its NOT authentic

Only because
I dont like the feel of the leather.. all else is right on the bag.. I have another laid next to it and check all the details

I added "possible Faux" to the listing to make it clear

It may be authentic... I will leave that to other people to figure

Thanks for getting my attention on this.

No, Cinza, what Hyacinth said in post #6377 was that the creed had a valid number. She specifically said that "doesn't necessarily mean the bag is authentic." FYI, here's the post: http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-shopping/authenticate-this-coach-694619-426.html#post20876870

And as a seller, you are required by law to KNOW that items are authentic. Authenticity disclaimers aren't valid and in fact, the fact that you didn't list it on ebay implies that you know that!

Hi ladies! Two quick authentication checks - playing it safe this time around and checking before I actually buy.

No idea what the names are, but they are at the goodwill.

First is a brown pebbled (tumbled on the creed?) leather bag. I apologize for the somewhat blurry creed - I didn't realize my hand shook. But I did read it, and there were no misspellings.

(Second bag in next post)

I just realized I do not have a picture of the creed of the second bag. Ugh. I'd wandered without taking it off the hook because the lady behind the counter had to entertain someone else, and totally forgot about the creed. Could someone at least tell if the style really exists? I've never seen one like it before.. I thought the closure and strap attachment were interesting.

No, you only asked if it was a valid number, like you'd done before and been told before that nothing could be authenticated just from a serial number. You posted one photo of a creed stamp and asked about the number itself, not the bag it was in, which you never posted photos of.
Here:

and my answer was here - how is this an authentication?

"The number is valid but that doesn't necessarily mean the bag is authentic."

Which I'd told you before, 3 weeks previously:
http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-shopping/authenticate-this-coach-694619-371.html#post20703988

Denying knowledge of whether or not something's authentic DOES NOT MEAN YOU'VE EXEMPTED YOURSELF FROM WEBSITE AND US FEDERAL LAWS AGAINST THE SELLING OF FAKE NAME-BRAND ITEMS. A disclaimer regarding the authenticity of goods does not relieve a seller from liability for the manufacture, distribution and/or sale of unlicensed, counterfeit goods.

If you have gotten the impression that it does, maybe you're asking for authenticity opinions in the wrong place, since you don't seem to care about observing the laws on the subject, and seem to feel that saying "I don't know if it's real" means it's ok to sell questionable goods. That's NOT what the authenticators here think, or believe, and we've said so strongly many times. Please don't claim that just because we've told you that a serial number is valid, that means the purse is genuine - and then try to CYA with an authenticity disclaimer when you list the bag.

Both are ok, the first one is a Sonoma Small Bucket Zip Nubuc made in 1994, the second is probably a Mulberry Bag style 9899 if it measures about 10x8x3 inches. The style is from around 1992 and it also looks genuine.

Thank you, Hyacinth! I shall be heading back to the GW tomorrow, then. Hopefully, they'll still be there. :smile1: I thought they looked good too, but backed off when one was priced more than my current limit on rehab projects.

Dear all experts, I think this bag is authentic, but can't find any info about it with its number # H04U-1494. Is it a limited one or....sadly I got a FAKE :crybaby:

There's a creed (sort-of) picture but you can't see

much.

Thank You BB I must have been looking at a different listing, this is the creed patch, and I did buy it. So now the question is not if its authentic but was my gut feeling correct?
