Please tell her that ANY website that uses "Coach" as part of their name or URL is doing so without Coach's permission or authorization, and is 99 percent sure to be selling fakes. Coach does NOT license their name for use by 3-rd party sellers, and when a site other than COACH.COM or E.Coach.COM uses it and Coach's photos and site graphics, they're doing so illegally with the intent to deceive and make potential buyers think they're connected to Coach. They're NOT.

Coach's website says:

We've stated it zillions of times already but it's always worth repeating:

With the exception of coach.com, ANY other site with "Coach" in the name sells fakes.

In fact, they are so oblivious about trademarks on that site that they use a Chanel logo, thinking it means Coach!

Good morning:

Item: Coach Brown Soho Tote 4155
Seller: Cinzaw (on Etsy), Cinza (on eBay)
She states she is not sure of authenticity and it is listed on Etsy. I would like to purchase but was hoping to get it authenticated first. I believe she had posted a pic here previously.

Thanks in advance!
That seller is a member here and should know better than to have authenticity disclaimers. Whether on ebay, Etsy, Bonz, or any other site, every seller has the obligation to KNOW that her items are authentic or they should be authenticated before listing them.

Personally, I'd find another seller who does her due diligence before listing.

JMHO.

I need to see the shape of the bottom of the bag, and also the measurements - across the bottom at the widest part, the top opening and the top-to-bottom height of the bag. Also, are the strap buckles nickel-silver color or brass?

Thanks!

Hi, thanks for the reply!
Here are the measurements in both cm and inches

top opening: 21 cm/8.26 inches
top to bottom height of the bag : 19 cm/7.4 inches
across the bottom at the widest part : 17 cm/ 6,69
across the bottom : 13 cm/ 5.11

However this measurements might not be the most accurate since I didn't have a measuring tape around and had to use a ruler, so I'm sorry for this, I do imagine it might be difficult to authenticate with unsure details.

The pictures of the bottom, zipper and handware (I'm not sure about the colour, but I'd say it's brass)

As always thanks very much for your insight and help:smile1:. I was hesitant as to the wording and the Creed looked off to me as well. That's probably why it was listed on Etsy instead of eBay. I think I will pass on this one. Thanks again.
And if that's the way Cinza (Ebay) or Cinzaw (Etsy) thinks, I don't recommend that seller at all!

Comments: Hi, I have been looking to acquire a large Madeline tote in brown, but I am not entirely sure of the authenticity here. I saw that the bag pictured is a Large (&the creed number corresponds with a large) and contacted the seller, since the bag is listed as a Medium. He confirmed that the bag is a large but never updated the listing, and didn't offer any additional information about the condition of the bag. Thanks in advance for your assessments! :)

Please wait for one of the regular authenticators to confirm. Thanks!
I did comment here: #6617. I don't know whether Alias4life saw it. The bag appears to be okay.

Yes, sorry, I noticed that after it was too late to modify my post. I have NO idea why a poster with no experience authenticating with us felt the need to post after you'd already authenticated the bag, but since we've had situations in the past with new posters offering incorrect information I wanted to advise alias4life1 to be sure the advice she was getting was from someone with plenty of confirmed experience.

No problem. I wanted to make sure that the buyer who'd asked about it saw the post.

1. The bag in the listing appears to be authentic but as Hyacinth pointed out, there's a possibility that the pictures aren't the seller's own. Addiitonally, based on the seller's description, the seller doesn't know much about the bag. I strongly doubt that the seller spoke to "sales personnel at Coach" and if she did, I'm not sure how knowledgeable they would be about a 5 year old bag.

Another thing that bothers me about this seller's listing(s) is that the seller sold the same bag with a wallet on January 28 in this listing:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Very-Rare-C...105?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item4cfdca9ef1

And now, 3 days later, the same items were sold in 2 separate listings:
Wallet: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Extremely-R...224?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item4cfdca6ca0
bag: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Extremely-R...379?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item4cfdca368b

#2: Looks good.

THX BB- well the seller originally listed the purse & wallet separate & then a 3rd listing with wallet & purse together. When I did my completed listings search the combo listing didn't show up so I thought he pulled it since I did email him about it to confirm that there was only one purse. Sadly I bid on the purse only & someone else bid on the wallet. So I did contact ebay this morning with the issue and they told me how to contact the seller to settle this. I also emailed seller last night and said I guess it was a good thing I didn't pay already since he already sold the purse. Still have NOT heard from seller on the matter. Thanks for all your ladies input!

The color in the first batch of photos was confusing me too - it looks now as if it's a light tan shade of some kind?

The only thing I can find that's close and that fits the measurements and the time frame are 2 Soho styles from 1993, a MacDougal Zip and the similar but larger Mercer Bag. The dimensions of the Mercer are closer but the position of the base and buckles for the strap seem further down the side of the bag than on yours. If it's genuine, it's definitely from the 1992-93 Soho line though so I'm including Coach's photos of both. Maybe you can stuff your bag a bit so that the shape falls into something closer to the ones in the photos, it's always easier to compare a bag to Coach's photos that way. (Sorry the MacDougal Zip photo isn't better, it's the only one of that style I can find but I cropped and enlarged it a bit).

Note the measurements for each in the catalog descriptions.

Wow, thanks so much for the detailed information and the pictures.I have filled my bag and it looks just the same as the MacDougal zip, the only difference is that the strap is shorter (or at least it seems so) than the bag in the pictures. My handbag has a greenish-beige colour, so I'm assuming it might be the celadon colour?
Did you see a lot of red flags in this case?I'd like to know because if there's any probability for it to be fake, I'd better return it tomorrow.
Thank you!

I didn't see any actual red flags, but I'm wondering if the strap was replaced somewhere along the way. It looks narrower than one would expect based on the width of the buckles, and that worried me a bit. But a surprising number of people who owned older bags with the extra-long shoulder straps that allowed the bag to fall down to mid to low hip either replaced the strap when the style in strap length changed, or, even actually cut the strap and had new holes punched. In fact the stitching at the end of the strap in the first set of photos makes me think that's what happened to yours, it shows signs or having been re-done. Straps on vintage bags should always be checked for those kind of modifications.

It has to be a MacDougal Zip then, the other details are correct for that style bag, including several that fakes makers from back then wouldn't have bothered with. And yes, the color is probably Celadon from the way you describe it.
