chocolate brown legacy 9966

Comments -- Is the "G" code consistent with the "made in the United States" in the creed? Is this color Mahogany or the lighter vicuna? Is the bag authentic?

I very much appreciate getting the answers. Thanks in advance.

Yes, "G" is a valid US plant code.

The color is probably Mahogany. I can't find any record of a color called "Vicuna" in 1998, and I believe that would have been much more of a Tan shade, AFAIK Vicuna was an early 2000s color. The only medium or dark brown shade available in 1998 was Mahogany.

And yes, it's authentic.

Just curious about this one-the style is 2186. I tried a google search and did not find anything even closely related to this bag. I'm pretty sure it's missing a number in the style number or is it just an older bag?

Please use the format given in Post #1 in this thread for authenticity requests. The Mobile listings are a mess for some browsers so please post the regular links, not the Mobile listings link.

And the listing doesn't show any creed photos at all. We need a creed photo for a solid authentication, although the bag in the photo looks exactly like it's supposed to. And don't ever depend on Google to help determine authenticity.

There's no reason why an older Coach wouldn't have a 4-digit style number. Coach didn't add the 5th digit to the style number until late 2006:

Thanks so much. But what's weird is that I e-mailed the seller and asked her whether it was Mahogany, and she replied that it was not.

As for vicuna, I could have sworn that someone who is a fan of the Legacy Zip posted that the 9966 came in British tan, Mahogany, and vicuna back then. I'll see if I can find that post. Oh, here it is:

"In the 1990s..." covers a lot of territory. There's no Vicuna listed in the1998 catalogs.

The following is from the Holidays 2000 catalog - as I said, more Tan than dark brown. And not available in 1998. Or 1999.

Coach Purse - Tan and brown
Item #: 250965513380
Seller: jcculbersoniii

Comment: I've never seen this before, and sadly there's no creed.. can it even be authenticated without?
There should be a creed if it's authentic. Please request a picture of the inside of the bag. (So far, I don't see any red flags but I also don't recognize the exact style.)

ETA: Do you mean that the seller told you the bag doesn't have a creed? Or do you mean that she didn't include a picture in the listing? If it's the latter, please request a clear pic.

Thank you, Hyacinth. I don't know why the seller said that it was not mahogany, but I did go ahead and purchase it.

It is very hard to tell with wallets without seeing them in more detail, but wallets that looked like those were sold in the official Coach factory stores. Maybe one of the experts here can tell you more.

thank you very much for the reply, maybe i'll try to ask her to show me another picture of those wallets, by the way, what is the difference between coach factory and boutique?

Coach has factory stores that have different styles than at the boutiques as well as styles that the boutiques haven't sold. The quality is just as good but the items are usually styles that have been done before. No one ever pays the price on the price tag at the factory stores. Everything is discounted at least 30%, and often they hand out a 30% coupon at the door. The boutiques have the new styles which are the same as the ones on Coach.com.
Even with more pictures of the wallets it would be impossible to tell for sure that they are authentic. The main thing is to look at the quality. I don't see anything to indicate that they aren't real. If it helps, I have a similar wallet but in a different color. Here is a picture of what it looks like on the inside:
