I came across this coach bag at an estate sale, I did not notice till I got home that it had cut stamp in the front slip pocket leather, it has B01 stamp cut in the leather. everything else about this bag looks good. could this have been "one that got thru" in the irregular world. Thanks

I don't know for sure but I seem to recall a TPF discussion about unusual numbers found stamped into bags. It was suggested that this is a lot number for the leather used in the bag. That section is not supposed to be used when making bags but occasionally it sneaks past quality control. I am not 100% certain but that came to my mind when I saw your photos.

Thanks, Katev! I remembered that too but this stamp looks as if it was cut into the leather and the ones we were talking about before seem to have been stamped more lightly - didn't one even use gold-colored ink? So this one might be a mark from the leather suppliers but it's hard to say for sure, from the position of the stamp in the bag it's likely that this one was done before the bag was assembled.

I tend to think they're gone from the outlets ATM also because there aren't a lot of them on ebay or Bonz. Generally, when the auction/selling sites are flooded, that indicates that they're at the outlets.

I agree. Maybe the seller has had it for a while and either just decided to sell it, or purposely waits for the other ones for sale on Ebay to get sold so that she's not competing with other sellers. No biggie, as long as those nice resellers keep making older goodies available for those of us who missed them the first time around. :D

It's frustrating because I don't remember the details, just that odd numbers were found stamped in unusal places in bags that appeared genuine, so they may have been codes or numbers for the leather used in the bag. I seem to remember black printed numbers, but I suppose that different leather suppliers could have different labeling systems.

Well, I was reading an article about how the "C" pattern is always in two... also, the fabric on the bottom is not perfectly lined up.
There are exceptions to every Coach "rule," but in this case, the C pattern is centered. It's just split with the vertical strip that goes down the center of the bag. But if you compare the left and right sides of the bag, they are perfect mirror images of each other. In this case, that's exactly as it should be.

As for the bottom, the pattern isn't necessarily going to be centered. It depends on the location of the pattern on the piece of fabric they use. It would be wasteful and prohibitively expensive to have to dispose of extra fabric just for the purpose of getting the pattern centered. They do their best to match and center (on styles that are matched and centered) but often, because of the pattern, size of pattern, placement of pattern and shape of bag, it's impossible that everything align perfectly.

Thank you very much for your help =) It is much appreciated!
