Is this a convertible clutch?

Title: COACH VINTAGE NAVY BLUE LEATHER CLASSIC SHOULDER BAG
Listing: 120753281928
Seller: robertjosephbanks

I think they reused copy from a Court bag auction or something. The creed is hard to see in their pics but I do see Made in NYC so might be a random serial?

You're right. They must have reused the description from another bag.

That looks like the Convertible Clutch and it does have a random serial number. I can't read it, but I do see the "New York City USA" and it looks like 7 digits starting with the number 2.

If interested, I would ask the seller to check the number on the bag and point out that they have a totally different number in the description.

Item: Black Coach Stewardess Bag 9525
Seller: Salvation Army Store $45
Photos: http://s1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee413/katev2/Coach Black Stewardess 9525/
Dimensions: 10” high, 11” wide, and 4.5” deep
Other markings: A "bullet" symbol indicating outlet sales and "YKK" on the brass zipper pull (but I know that these are not definitive)

Comments: The style number is C9C-9525; made in the United States in 1999. Let me know if you need more (better!) pictures. I sure hope that it is authentic because I spent more than twice my usual thrift store limit ($20 or less) but I felt that $45 was a fair price for an intact, black, US-made Stewardess bag in decent condition. As long as it is genuine, that is, because the SA doesn’t do refunds or exchanges!

Thanks in advance for your expertise and assistance!

Looks good! A 1999 Stewardess still made of the good leather! I think that's quite a good price for that classic bag made in the USA. I was really surprised to see a price of $358 :wtf:for their "new" version with thinner leather.

That's wonderful news! Thank you, I'm thrilled! :yahoo:

I'm okay with the price, too. The reason I try to stay under $20 for my rehab projects is because, if the bag isn't genuine or the rehab is not a success, then I'm not out too much money. Under $10 is even better! Plus I am willing to take more drastic cleaning steps if the bag was inexpensive. But the cheaper bags are often in bad condition.

I have been watching the older Stewardess bags on ebay and I don't think I could have done any better on the price, especially when you add in the shipping costs. My bag was a total of $48.74 with the sales tax. And this way I had the chance to carefully examine the bag (and sniff it, too!) before buying. I was pretty sure it was genuine but I have been fooled before so I really appreciate your confirmation.

Not only am I shocked at the $358 price of the new "lighter-weight" version, but I have just read on another thread that it has been confirmed by JAX that the dimensions of the new Stewardess bag are smaller! See below:

You're welcome!

I did post on that thread after checking the dimensions on Net a Porter for that bag. If Net a Porter's measurements are right, then Coach's reps are giving "bad" information (AGAIN) about the "new" version being smaller than the original.

;)

I don't see anything wrong with the bag, and there's nothing wrong with the number of digits in the serial number either. Try another CS rep.

Ok, thanks for the help. I am no longer worried about it, so I won't be speaking to another CS rep. If I ever call again, hopefully it will be someone who actually seems like they care, because this one sure didn't. :nogood:
