I just have a general question I was on Ebay this morning and I saw a navy blue Willis Bag - I don't have the number, but when I looked at the pictures I saw a red flag the zipper on the inside pocket had nylon teeth - I currently own a variety of the Classic collection, some of which do have the inside zipper pocket and I have never seen a nylon zipper in any of them. I have a binouclar bag, a rambler, a court, two city bags, two convertible clutches and a few others, none of htem have the nylon zipper. I know that they did use them on some of the light weight leather that they made, but I was curious about teh Willis bag. There is a note with the bag, because the tag is not the same shade of navy as the bag and she states that it is a replacement tag but the zipper ;made me question the bag. Thank you.
You only have a very small selection of older bags. Coach has used nylon zippers on a LOT of bags, AND over the years have also changed the standard zipper mix depending on the year and the color of the bag. Here's just an example of a few of the leather ones that are just sitting on the bed in my "handbag vault" a.k.a. the guest bedroom - right now, there are close to 100 more stored away
Green Willis 1996 - brass inside
Blue Willis 2004 AND Aubergine Willis 2005 - nylon inside
Patricia's Legacy 1996 - brass inside & outside
Legacy Soft Flap 2005 - nylon inside, none outside
Chelsea Flap late 1980s - brass inside, none outside
Corset Duffle 2003 - nylon inside, none outside
1994 Soho Whitney - nylon inside AND outside
1994 Sheridan Monticello - nylon inside, none outside
1993 Sheridan Richmond - nylon inside AND outside
1995 Madison Regis - brass outside, nylon inside
2011 Penelope Hippie - nickel front pocket, nylon inside
2011 Kristin Spectator Hobo - brass outside, nylon inside
And BTW, I've mentioned in several posts here and in Salearea's Guides on Ebay that Coach has used plastic - yes, i should have said nylon - zippers. Please search them out and read them.
Don't EVER judge every Coach based on just the half-dozen bags you're familiar with. And take any "Rules" you may have read in online Authenticity Guides and throw them in the trash - the one important Rule about Coach is that there are almost NO Rules. Coach does what they want, when they want.
