Thank you. I wish it was real. Can not get my money back. I wish I knew more so I could avoid this in the future.
:shame:
You said you purchased it second hand. If you bought it recently, I suggest taking it back to the store where you purchased it. Whether you bought from Goodwill, Salvation Army or a consignment store, any seller (charity or not) is required by law to verify authenticity before putting any item out on the sales floor.

Thrifts seem to believe they're exempt from having to follow the law but they are not. Technically, it's even illegal to sell a fake at a yard sale, although there's little recourse if that's where it came from.

I thought that too, but it was purchased As-Is. So there are no returns on it. They wont even give me in store credit for it. I got it from Goodwill and I took the tag off (DOH!), so even if I took it back and demanded they reimburse me they wont.
I guess live and learn.
It is wonderful you all are here and helping people with what you know. I will stick around and try to catch on as much as I can.

Just for starters, you should clearly be able to read the entire creed patch including the serial number. And since the serial number is probably A2J-6094 which is one of the most commonly-used fake serial numbers, you should make a copy of the entire Fakes List and keep it in your handbag, that number is on it.

plus scanning all the newer posts after these for additional numbers found after the list was posted.

Also Coach NEVER stamps the ends of the turnlocks, and NO Coach purse that has all Cs or Coach logos as the outside fabric should EVER have Cs or logos on the inside too.

There's an entire thread here that has plenty of advice, the older posts are sometimes already outdated though. Most of the time there's no easy way to tell, you have to invest time and effort in learning what to look for. Better yet, ask here BEFORE you buy. And never buy anything unless you're sure you can get a refund if it's fake.

Thank you. I will look over those links closely. I did in the beginning, before posting and thought that my bag might be authentic so I asked anyway.
The Coach creed number is definitely not the A2J-6094... it is 6091, but it is still a fake because of the lining and the hardware. This is all good to know for my next second hand store purchase. Thanks!

It looks ok to me, but more opinions would help. It's the version made for the Factory Stores with the C lining rather than the Legacy stripes.
Thank you very much! Would be great to hear more opinions, thank you in advance

I am not very familiar with Coach bags, if it's made for Factory Stores does it mean it's not as high quality as regular bag?

I hope that particular Goodwill is no longer getting any of your business, or your friends'.

Amd it doesn't matter under the law WHAT provisions the store sells it under. Selling any kind of fake no matter what they call it or whether it's guaranteed genuine or just "as is" is ILLEGAL. Period. It's against US Federal law no matter who does it, whether or not they're a "non-profit", or what they write on the tag.

A2J-6091 is another number we've seen on fakes - the real style 6091 is shown below. Fakes can have any serial number, valid or not.

I don't think so. I heard the leather isn't as high quality but they are still great bags and the cost is great as well. I like some factory bag styles.

Thank you BB!
You're welcome.

There's no such thing as "as is" when it comes to illegal items.

You may not have paid a lot of money for it and you may want to consider your payment as a donation. But the fact is that Goodwill is wrong in having sold the bag and I think you should contact the district manager if they give you a hard time.

There's no reason why you should be out a single cent for an item that you don't want, need or wouldn't have purchased had you know it was fake.

I would call and go into the store and just give the manager a hard time. Chances are they will refund your money and just put it back on the shelf and sell it to someone else.
I'm surprised when i see people say they get bags from goodwill. The goodwill here doesn't have anything name brand or even nice because the employees get to it first.
