Good evening, Ladies. Could you please authenticate / date-range / name this bag? Perhaps it's the age or the pre-love/abuse, but I don't remember seeing a glued-in piece of leather at the bottom of any Coach bag....? It looks pretty uniform in color with the rest of the inside, and I guessed that if it were some kind of work tote, it might be reinforcing the bottom, but I'd appreciate any insight you ladies could provide. And if you could also please hazard a professional guess as to what color this bag is SUPPOSED to be? I got it in the mail today. It needs much more TLC than these photos show, but it speaks to me.

It's an Envelope Portfolio from the late 1980s. It looks ok to me, I don't see why an unstructured style like this wouldn't have an extra reinforcement on the bottom but I'm not familiar with the actual bag.
The color might be Putty.

Contact the seller and ask for another photo of the creed from a slightly different angle to show the serial number more clearly. The first two numbers could be nines, it's easy to misread those stamped serial numbers if the light isn't hitting them at the right angle.
From the "overstamping" lines above the first 2 numbers - the second number can't possibly be a 2, and the first 2 numbers are very possibly the same number. Just to ease your mind a bit until you get the photo.

Genuine, made in 1999. Coach made a lot more colors in the past than what's shown in the Classics section of their website.

Thanks, Hyacinth. I notice that everyone keeps listing these late '90s and early '00s bags as vintage when clearly they're not--why is that? I just emailed the seller about that first tote. Do you happen to know what year the Janice's legacy with the above creed is from?

Since I haven't been to the outlet for a while, not sure if they're the factory-color version. Any idea to share is always welcome.
