I THINK YOU ARE ALL (MEMBERS AND AUTHENTICATORS) TOO TOTALLY AWESOME FOR WORDS (I AM FROM CALI...WE STILL USE "TOTALLY AWESOME"...CUT ME SOME SLACK :p)!!! THIS FORUM IS THE BEST THING I'VE EVER FOUND...WISH I HAD FOUND IT SOONER!!!

Yes, the red patent tote (you posted about elsewhere) is authentic. The lining is correct for that bag.

A serial number's validity has nothing to do with registration.

I believe that the bag you are asking about is a MFF bag and many won't be in Coach's system.

If the person questioning the bag wants to come and ask questions, you're welcome to send her a link to this thread and she can ask about any listing that concerns her.

Believe it or not, the person questioning this bag is (supposedly) a Coach employee and claimed that siggy lining is very rarely used. Pfft.

Here's a couple of more pics of the "purported to be a Neo bag" including the creed pic. Thanks!

The creed alone is screaming fake - it's NOT made of cowhide, and the Neo bags all had creed statements unique to the line. The front plaque is WAAAAAY off center, and 2002 seems much too late for Coach to still be making the Neos. The incorrect style number is another big problem, and that B plant was probably closed long before 2002. I have to say fake. Any time the description of the bag doesn't match the actual material that's a bad sign.

Thanks guys, you just confirmed my suspicions. Oh well, I am only out $10, I have learned another valuable lesson, and at least it is now out of circulation.

Thanks and I agree with your assessment, but I read the style number as 1992?

I don't normally post here alot but that bag is fine. The person who sent you the message is mis-informaed. And I think you should notify Coach that one of their employees is selling their bags on ebay and that the person is authenticating against their company policy (if she still works there).

She has given you very bad information. That signature lining was specifically used at the Factory Stores.

That bag is authentic.
Not only is she "authenticating," but she's authenticating incorrectly!

Thank you very much. Could you help me on one other auction? Here it is.

You're welcome.

I don't recommend leelaadzinecouture. Most of her listings use stolen copyrighted stock photos belonging to Coach and other manufacturers. Some listings mix stock photos with other pics, but since the seller doesn't use her own pictures in all her listings, there's no telling whether she also "borrows" other pictures from other sellers.

Additionally, even those listings with pictures don't show enough pictures to prove authenticity.

Item: black neo tote
Listing number: NA
Seller: flea market
Link: NA

Comments: I picked this up at the flea market today and I have concerns that it may be a fake. I am not at all familiar with the Neo line but the vendor had other leather coach bags that appeared to be genuine and that helped to ease my concerns.

But the more I look at it now, the more convinced I become that it is not genuine. The coach nameplate is a little crooked and the coach creed is not centered on the patch. Plus the creed only talks about the leather but this bag is primarily fabric. Both of the zippers are YKK but I know that doesn't prove anything. When I search on the style number 9992 all I find is a backpack!

She wanted $18 but the hangtag was missing and I had was worried about authenticity. She told me that she "genuinely believed that it was authentic" but that she "was not an expert." When she offered $10 I decided to take a chance, but now I think that I just wasted 10 bucks!

Please let me know your opinions, I will post some additional pics with the next message. Thanks in advance for the bad news!

Here's a couple of more pics of the "purported to be a Neo bag" including the creed pic. Thanks!
Please wait for another opinion from Hyacinth but I believe you're correct. The creed states that it's a leather bag although the neo is not leather and the cartouche is improperly centered.

And in fact, there appears to be a new serial number for "the list." I've found several different style bags with H*B-9992. The year code differs but the month, factory and style number appear to be consistent.

The style number? Or the year code? The style number on the creed is 9992, and Coach wasn't even using year codes in their serial numbers in 1992. Check my post in the first few pages of the Answers to Authenticity Questions about Coach serial numbers.

I want to rehab this bag but not sure of it's authenticity. I saw it hanging with a bunch of purses at a thrift shop and thought "wow, OLD coach", because of the patina, leather condition, etc., and the leather is thick and buttery soft. But inside there's no coach creed, stamp or anything! It seems kind of old for a faked bag, but were Pre-Cashin Coaches -or even prototypes -like this? The turn lock is just like my other vintage coaches. There is a # stamped into the deep corner of the purse that is intriguing also. I'll try to give good pictures, but let me know if there's other photos I could try that would help. It is without a strap. It seems to be a camel brown color, but I'm sure conditioning would deepen it. Thanks in advance for your help ! You guys are helping me learn my Coaches slowly but surely.

Here's a couple more photos to add to previous photos posted. Even if you have no clue if its real, I appreciate ANY thoughts. Thanks so much

Sorry, I meant the year code; I thought it was 1992

Thanks, I took a chance but it was a mistake!
