Fake. The serial number doesn't match the style of bag it's on.Hi, I find this bag on ebay looks great but no bids yet, could you authentic it for me? Thanks!

I'd like to see a picture of the interior and the creed, but so far, I don't see any red flags.I have a quick question about the bag below. I have a chance to buy it for less than $50. However all the ones I've seen on Ebay have a silky pink lining. This one has a beige lining. I don't think this bag is commonly faked? Was there a MFF version? I'm waiting on a pic of the creed. Thanks!

I don't know which bag you're referring to as being authentic. (In the future, please use the quote function to reference the post to which you are commenting.)YES, this is an authentic bag. I gave one to my Mom, and it's exactly the same. Fakes are usually made in current styles, unless it's a Louis Vuitton for example who rarely changes their styling.
Authenticate this purse:

Regarding your comments, I'm responding to them because I want to try to point out some of the fallacies of your thinking.I don't see any problem with either. However, the second seller has no recent history of selling Coach and has only provided one picture. That picture looks authentic. I would probably ask for more pictures, including the inside. I also don't know what the difference is between 15272 and 15273, because to me they look identical. You will also notice that the first one (feedmyfeet) seems to be missing the metal medallion. This seller has a long history of selling Coach so I would feel comfortable buying from her.
Coach didn't make that bag with that plaque. If the bag is authentic Coach (and we'd need to see more pictures to know), then the plaque was added to it and isn't a Coach-made plaque.I have no desire to buy this but came across it searching for vintage coach on etsy and wondered if it should be reported?

I'm not sure. It's possible that there was a different (MFF) version. But more pictures are needed.Thank you! I'm still waiting for more pics. Does the difference in lining (some have a hot pink satin lining, this one has a beige fabric lining mean this one might be a MFF?

I wish I knew the answer to your question about the "time frame" when Coach was apparently "fooling around" with the Creeds and making MANY changes.
I have a feeling that they were making changes after Cashin left...but I have NO proof of that.
There may be someone who knows...but I do not.
I don't either. My best guess would be that the ones with the glue-in numbers were from the 1970s. There's one Coach guide on Ebay that has some information about serial numbers but it doesn't mention the glue-in ones, and although it may be very accurate I don't know enough about the real vintage bags to be able to say so for sure.

I'm going to check with you from now on. I almost bought that last purse! It looked totally authentic to me. Thank you more than I can say.
Thanks for your comments. I appreciate all your help. I hope I will learn as time goes on. I don't think you can ever tell 100% until you get the purse in your hands, so I think you have to rely on things like the seller's history to help you make your decision. Obviously you know more about that seller than I do, and I thought you had posted it but I couldn't find it at the time. If a counterfeiter makes a bag that looks identical to the real thing, how can you tell? Even the receipt from the Coach store can be faked. From now on, I'll only comment on purses I own or the obvious ones with the fake linings or incorrect creeds. Regarding my comments about the seller with only one picture, I did suggest that she ask for more pictures before she made her decision. Again, thanks!Originally Posted by bagbearI am new to the Coach forum but I would appreciate any advice on the authenticity of these 2 please.

1. I don't see any problem with either. However, the second seller has no recent history of selling Coach and has only provided one picture. That picture looks authentic.
You absolutely CANNOT determine authenticity with one picture. "Looking authentic" means nothing. Many fakes "look authentic."
2. I also don't know what the difference is between 15272 and 15273, because to me they look identical.
You state you don't know the difference between the two styles. How can you determine authenticity if you don't know the differences?
3. This seller has a long history of selling Coach so I would feel comfortable buying from her.
There are many high-feedback sellers with long histories who wouldn't know an authentic bag, wallet or keychain if it bit them on the butt. Yet they have thousands of feedbacks, no negs and haven't ever sold an authentic item.
Feedback and history don't necessarily indicate honesty and integrity. (I'm making general statements and not referring to the seller(s) in question. I gave my opinion on the authenticity of #1 in another post.)
Again, there's no way to authenticate a bag with a single pic nor can you judge a seller based solely on feedback score.
