Does this wallet look genuine? Thanks!

The price tag doesn't look right either.

Always avoid brand-new sellers with highly-faked items like wallets, keychains and highly-faked handbag styles, the odds are pretty good that they're selling fakes. And be even MORE careful of sellers, new or otherwise, from Southern California, there's a HUGE pool of fakes sellers in that area.

This forum is invaluable! I've posted some more pics to ID under that forum. I'm pretty sure they are legit, but after reading about Babykat's experience on the older purses I'm not quite sure. The creeds are light. They didn't start out that way (oops!) I'm learning the hard way. I removed some dirt and pen marks. I guess you don't want to get the creed too wet when cleaning. They still require more TLC like a good conditioning. I sure would appreciate help authenticating the 3 bags. I'm 99.9% sure the wrislets are genuine.
Wow! I've bought 9 Coaches the last 2 weeks. What fun. I'm addicted but NOT going to Coach anonymous!

That's the thing, Daelily! That bag is genuine leather and it has held up so well for so long! I guess you can't just think that a fake or replica bag will be made of substandard materials.

The handle on that bag is wearing, so I'm kinda glad (in a macabre way) that I can toss it out to make room for newer bags! (I guess I kinda always figured that ALL fake Coach bags would be made of vinyl. Silly me.)

Next week I'm going to get out all my leather bags to condition them. They were all eBay purchases, so I think I may be back (again) to have them authenticated. I know I don't want to keep counterfeit items in my possession!!

Yes, probably at least 30 years old, one of the original NYC-made bags. This one's the Basic Bag. Nice find!

Thank you, thank you, Hyacinth!! :flowers:

May I ask one more question yet, please?

I have a brown one almost exactly like it, also a Basic Bag from NYC, that DemRam had kindly authenticated a while back.

The only differences between the bags are :
1) the brown one has a Talon zipper, while the black one has a YKK zipper
2) the brown one has a hangtag with a suede back, while the black hangtag is "finished and embossed" on both sides.

Is that due to different ages? I'm just curious. Since they were only made in NYC at the time, I was wondering if that gave a clue as to different ages?

If it helps, here are quick reference links to the pics of both bags:

It's strictly due to when the bag was made. Coach used Talon zippers on many of their older bags along with a few other brands but gradually started switching over to mostly YKK. The brown bag has the "industrial-style" zipper that they used a lot during the 70s and 80s with the heavier pull and the blue-black fabric edging. Once in a while they'll still use non-YKK zippers on a few of their new bags. But all those bogus "Guides" claiming that Coach ONLY uses YKK zippers are 100 percent wrong.

Early hangtags were usually 2 separate tags that were glued together and often came apart, but Coach has also used thicker single-sided hangtags in a lot of different designs. There have been literally dozens of different hangtag styles over the years. And remember too that a lot of hangtags may not be original to that particular bag since a lot of people used them as keychains or just took them off and lost them. Quite a few hangtags on older bags are replacements.
