Title: AUTHENTIC COACH SOHO RED WITH CLASSIC "C" DESIGN NICE!!
Item#:220692259623

Already rec'd this & it just looks/feels fake to me esp. in the details.
Seller insists it's real.

So it's my word against hers.

San Francisco Coach Store mgr. tells me it's against corp. policy to perform any verifications.

As a new member to this site, I'm hoping the expertise of tPF'ers will be able to help settle this issue. I've attached extra pix (apart from eBay site pix).

(BTW, I am totally lost as to how to navigate this site. Is there no "Help" page avail. for an ol' dinosaur like moi?? I don't even know if I'm posting this to the right place!)

Mahalo in advance!

Yes, it can be confusing until you've found your way around, but you're in the right place for Coach authentications. Welcome to tPF!

I don't see any problems with the bag. You say it doesn't feel right - can you explain what doesn't feel right to you? And remember something especially on the more recent Coaches, they're not going to be perfect, not in stitching or fabric or pattern alignment, especially with the Mini C patterns.

Thanks!

Welcome to tPF.

The bag is authentic. The only "problem" appears to be that the top zipper pull seems to be missing and the seller attached the hangtag to it to use as the pull.

That said, the seller did sell a "lot" of Coach items that has at least one fake Coach bag:

Hello:
First, thanks for such quick responses!

OK - I have 5 Coach-store-bought bags which doesn't make me an expert, but here's what makes me think this is not the real deal:
1.Weight of the bag is very, very light - I thought even with this style Coach it would've had more "body" to it
2. Stitching where leather meets fabric: there is only 1 row of white thread stitching on this whereas there are 2 rows of white stitching PLUS a row of matching thread stitching on other Soho bags
3. Handle is not the usual Coach sturdy double layer of leather w/metal rings and/or rivets & reinforced stitches
4. "O" ring on main zipper (for zipper pull) is much bigger than on even larger Coach bags
5. Interior open pockets on this are the same size (instead of 1 open flat pocket & 1 open gusseted cell phone pocket
6. All my other Coach hangtags are in matching leather. This one is metal -is that normal? (BTW, the leather zipper pull was used on an inside zipper)

Any thoughts??

1. Different bags have different weights. Some of their leather bags are specifically described as "lightweight" and some cotton bags seem almost flimsy.
2. Some styles are only made with one row of stitching, others have 2 rows and still others have 2 rows close together with a third row further apart. This style is made with just one row.
3. This is the way the strap is on this one.
4. The O-ring is larger because it's supposed to have a leather loop zipper pull with a dogleash clip attached to it. The zipper pull is missing on the bag. (See comp listings)
5. This is the pocket construction on this style.
6. Some bags have leather hangtags and others have metal. This style comes with a metal hangtag. (See comp listings.)

Compare your bag to these others. They don't show tons of detail but there's enough to see the similarities.

There IS a dog leash pull but Seller had it on the INSIDE zip pocket. The O ring is much bigger than on any of my larger Coaches w/zip pull. The proportion seems wrong.

Re the double contrast stitching: my skepticism is I'm so used to Coach attention to detail such as the 3 rows of stitching leather to fabric for longevity of wear to hold up to the added weight of a full bag.

Was wondering if you based your affirmative opinion solely from eBay listings pix or do you personally know this particular "version" of the Soho mini sig exists?

You're right, this one seems so flimsy compared to the usual Coach. I know how good counterfeits can be these days -- and how rampantly ubiquitous they are.

-Thanks

Really? Which one? What gave it away? (I'd like to learn to spot better -- train my eyes!)
The khaki signature hobo is the fake.

If you look at the number of rows of stitching on that fake, you'll see that it has the extra rows that you think your bag should have. This is an example of exactly why counting rows of stitching is not an indicator of authenticity. There are many other problems with that bag though.

As I commented, different styles are made differently. One signature hobo style might have 3 rows of stitching, another might have 2 rows and yet a third might have a single row, as your bag does.

The o-ring is large on the zipper pull to accommodate the dogleash clip. Evidently, your seller removed it from the top zipper and attached it inside but that's the reason for the larger ring. Zippers that have a leather pull use a smaller o-ring or d-ring.

As for my comments about how I know whether it's authentic or not, I'm not basing my opinion solely on the other listing for the same style. I don't own that bag but I'm familiar enough with the style that I don't see any of the "problems" you are claiming.

I have attached a picture of the o-rings on my own bag. It is a signature e-w duffle and has a top zipper and a front pocket zipper. Both zippers have large o-rings with a leather zipper pull. Coach DOES use large o-rings.
