Wow, I got a very nasty reply from sophistifashion because I asked about those two conflicting bag Creeds. Told me if I didn't trust him / her please don't bid and that I was being blocked.

Well makes me glad I didn't buy anything from that seller, just wanted to say thank you all for the warning!

That doesn't surprise me. Consider yourself lucky - can you imagine what s/he would have done if you asked about the feedback on the bag that was re-colored with shoe polish?

One thing I really recommend, especially if you concentrate your buying in certain cataegories like purses - keep a list as a Word or Wordpad file in your Documents folder or if you have a special folder set up for auction purchases keep it in that same folder. Start keeping records of the names mentioned here as known fakes sellers, and maybe also keep a separate list of anyone we refer to as a Trusted Seller. That way you can build your own reference file. Of course it's still best to check here before bidding. :smile1:

Well since I was blocked, I don't have the option to buy anything from sophisifasion anyways lol. I also got another dirty remark from that seller this morning.

"LOL! Smart Alecks ususally make bad customers. So...I came out ahead. LOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!

- sophistifashion"

What a freakin' jerk. That's why I always get a warm fuzzy feeling inside when we actually have a chance to warn people about those kinds of sellers before they make an expensive mistake.

BTW, if he contacts you again especially if through Ebay Messaging, send a complaint to Ebay with a copy of the message and Ebay's message ID number. Any further contact is considered harrassment since you aren't involved in any transaction, and whether or not the pathetically tiny Trust & Safely staff left at Ebay gets off their dead patoot(s) to actually send him a warning, at least a record of the complaint will be on file.

I posted a wallet to be authenticated by seller lsmack143 and sent her an e-mail asking about where she purchased it (FP or outlet), if she had a gift receipt, and if she offers a 100% money back guarantee for authenticity. She responded that she bought it at an outlet, doesn't have a gift receipt, and does offer a money back guarantee. I am considering making an offer...

I don't remember the post, but all we do here is give our opinions. Any decisions after that are up to you as the potential buyer.

A lot of sellers have stopped giving receipts. And receipts don't prove anything, it's even easier to fake a receipt than to fake a purse.

Always remember the Rules To Bid By:

Sellers can LIE.
Photos can be STOLEN.
Feedback can be FAKED.
Ebay "Buying Guides" can be WRONG.
If something looks too good to be true - IT IS.

I've posted a few Coach items for authentication, but have not had any luck receiving a response from anyone. I haven't found any info on the forum about any of the sellers I am considering buying from, help would be appreciated!

Item: BNWT Coach Check book Wallet

Comments: A lot of pictures to scrutinize...

This is the one I was referring to, Hyacinth. I think it was on the eBay page about determining Coach fakes that was linked on TPF that had the tip about asking for a gift receipt, as the transaction number could then be verified. I realize that it is easy to make a fake receipt, but I thought I would ask the seller anyway.

Both Hyacinth and I didn't see any obvious problems with the wallet in question but keep in mind that receipts and money back guarantees don't prove much.

Receipts can be faked or genuine receipts can be used to "prove" authenticity of a fake. Some dishonest sellers purchase an authentic item, use pictures and the receipt of that item and send the buyer(s) a fake.

And many sellers offer money back guarantees in the hopes that buyers will either assume that a seller won't make that offer if selling fakes. Also, sellers who are caught and confronted after selling a fake offer refunds in order to avoid negative feedback.

This isn't to say that all sellers with gift receipts and/or money-back guarantees are dishonest, but just be forewarned that it does happen.

I added a link to the listing for ease of reviewing.

Do not buy from smaflick78 as the seller mixes authentic and fakes. She also uses stolen Coach stock photos as well as some listings having pictures stolen from other ebay sellers.

Although the pictures of the red Sabrina bag appears to be okay, the seller shouldn't be using a stock photo in her lisitngs. (Many of the other listings also use stock photos stolen from Coach.) And I don't believe that the pictures are the seller's own. I found at least one other listing where the picture was stolen from another seller.

She also has this listing for fake Coach keychains, charms and jewelry.

Comments: Please authenticate. This was posted in the Fakes thread but I think it could be OK. It definitely has me stumped:thinkin:. TIA!
Some of the scribble bags are exceptions to the centered/matched "rule," but this isn't one of them.

It's FAKE.

The seller already sold the same fake a few days ago. Hmmm.

I had to make an on the spot buy of a Coach purse. I have no way to send a pic. I do believe it is authentic (I have 10 other coach bags), but cannot find the name of the bag on any sites. The number inside is A1026-F144588. It is a fairly small bag, Optic C in khaki/gold/tan, with silver hardware. The front bib is brown leather with Coach stamped in the leather that looks darker. It has a wide long strap that buckles on either side so can be can be used as shoulder bag or threaded through for use as handbag. It looks a lot like Ebay Item # 220685222481, with the scooped leather front and same pleats, except it is shorter with a formed bottom, no feet. Anyone want the challenge to help me out? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220685222481&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

BTW, when I said on the spot, I mean I didn't have time to try to authenticate. I went to a Craigs list seller to look at a coffee table, but she was getting ready to have a rummage sale and had 2 coach purses in addition to VBradly ones hanging next to the table. I KNEW the other one was auth, so told her I was interested. Then she said "I have another one I'd sell, but my stuff is in it, I've been using that one. So she went in and brought that one out (with her wallet and stuff in it,lol)...it was a gorgeous small leather Sabrina...I tried not to light up. Anyway, I ended up buying all 3 and the damn table!
