Dear Hyacinth (the wonderful woman who taught me to love vintage leather :smile1: ),

I'd actually already thought of that. ;) In the past, I've already purchased a long strap from them to use on a small suede Zoe, as well as a strap for a small Marc Jacobs bag I have. *If* I try for this blue bag, that's exactly where I'm going to go for the strap.

My big question now, as to whether or not I want to try for the blue bag, is exactly what 'blue' we're talking about. :)

Beenburned, (and maybe demram might know this too),

I have a question about the picture that you posted at the very top of page 172. (The pic of that blue bag I was looking at and you authenticated.)

Is that a picture *of* the blue, or just that style but a different color?
I'm asking because I'm wondering how accurate the blue is in the auction.

What is the true blue? Royal blue, or darker navy? Can anyone please help?
The picture was a Coach stock photo. I'm not sure of the accuracy of the color or the name of the original color. (Hyacinth or DemRam might know that.)

Remember though that colors can look different on different monitors and sometimes, too, the Coach picture might not be exactly the same as the item that they put into production.

Often stock photos are prototypes and tweaks might be made to different details before the item is actual made available for sale.

So far I've found white straps in a ton of different lengths and different colors and style of hardware if a narrower 3/8ths inch width will work for you, that's not much smaller than the regular Court Bag strap. They also have Navy but I think that shade would be darker than the navy on that particular bag.

Yeah, if I go for the bag, I'll go for a white strap. (I really want something in blue, and I really *love* this older leather. I'm willing to spend the extra on a strap if need be, that's not a problem.)

You said "Court Bag" ... is that what this one would be called?

Sorry for another question, but ... does anyone know what the estimated 'depth' would be on the bag? The auction says 9x8. I do have this question sent to the seller as well, but would anyone know the third dimension?
Thank you again.

The picture in the auction is much too light, the color is Coach's navy blue, not the royal blue in the auction. I'm looking at a pic in the Spring 2002 catalog and it's definitely a deep navy. Maybe not quite as close to black as the earlier navy shades from the 80s and 90s, but close. If you look at the auction photo of the inside of the bag you'll get a much more accurate idea of the color. The color in the pic on page 172 is very accurate.

"Court Spectator Bag" was the official name. BTW, remember if you order a strap from Sceckert, their straps don't adjust so be sure to get the right length for the way you'll be wearing it.

Thanks Hyacinth. I think my theoretical 'holy grail' would be a *vintage*, cobalt/royal blue leather Coach, but I realize now that such a thing doesn't actually exist. ;)

The more I look at the pic beenburned supplied though, the more I really do like it. I just might go for it.

One more question yet, Hyacinth? You used the word "Court" before. Is that what this would be called then? "Court bag"? And Looking at the serial number again, would this be 1991?

Thanks again to everyone.

Off the top of my head, I can't remember any Cobalt Blue classics although there may have been one or two. There are quite a few fakes in that color though so always ask here before bidding if you happen to spot your Holy Grail color.

And the 2002 catalog definitely uses "Court Spectator Bag" :D

We've said it over and over again - the one thing that's consistent about Coach is its INconsistency. :girlwhack:
