I really thought it was authentic. I tried to look up the style number with drill down or dial down website, but when it just took me to the Coach home page. I couldn't get it to work. There are no Coach stores near here. And honestly the bag she sold that was fake, looks legitimate to me, especially with "Coach" on the hardware.
Several things to keep in mind:
Coach store employees are completely untrained in recognizing fakes, especially older ones. Don't EVER take a Coach to a Coach store for authentication.
Hangtags don't always prove a bag is real or fake since they can be changed or replaced in less that 5 seconds and often are. Both fake and real hangtags are for sale all over Ebay and most buyers can't tell the difference.
Coach HAS done some styles with 2 shades of leather trim. That's not the sign of a fake.
The old drilldown no longer exists, don't waste your time trying to find it. Some of us that are obsessive savers and collectors managed to save some of the photos before Coach shut it down with no warning.
"Coach" stamped all over a bag's hardware is a HUGE red flag. Coach very seldom stamps any of its hardware and some items are NEVER stamped. The more times the hardware is stamped, the bigger the chance that the item is fake.

Also I must add, the only fakes I have seen are really bad fakes with lame hangtags, G's or O's instead of C's, etc. I still don't understand how the c's are misaligned on the bag I sold. When I look at it I see that every C has a mirror image. But I should have noticed the leather...All the leather should have been white. I don't know why I didn't catch that...
