hello,
this is where I report fakes....(thanks for the reply Hyacinth!)

seller: redliz81
listing:#64459483

have a great day!
You're correct. It's fake.

On the right side of the page, there's a report button. I reported as a "possibly prohibited item" and in the text of the report, I stated that the bag has an invalid serial number that is seen only on fakes.

Hello! I am new to the Coach forums, but I'm hoping someone can help me authenticate 3 vintage Coach bags I've picked up over the years. I've always assumed that they were real, but I have come to realize (reading these forums) that there are a lot of fakes out there, even for older styles.

Also, any help confirming the style/age of these bags would be greatly appreciated.

Here is the first one:

Item: Pocket Purse (?) - from the 80s?

Please let me know if you need additional photos. Thank you!!!!

It looks like the "Pocket Purse" if it measures about 9 1/2 x 6 1/2 x 2.

Made probably in the later 1980's - 1993.

:smile1:

You're right. It's the "Watson" bag and yours was made in 1996.

I don't recognize the 3rd bag so I can't comment.

:smile1:

Yay!! Would you mind my asking how you can tell which year it's from? I'm just curious, hope that's not an improper question.

Would there be someone else who might be able to recognize the 3rd bag?

Many thanks again!!! :smile1:

You're welcome.

You can tell the year by looking at the "number" after the first letter. So the "6" after the "K" tells the year is 1996. That only works on bags with "style numbers" and doesn't work on your other 2 bags because they have the older "random" serial numbers.

I would bet money that Hyacinth knows your 3rd bag. Keep checking back later on to see what she says.

Oh cool! I had found some reference guides to the old Coach serial numbers, but I didn't see that mentioned. Thanks!!

And the last one (most recent purchase) ... I don't have a clue what the style/model is, but it seems like it might be the oldest of the bunch.

Again, any help confirming the style/age of the bags would be greatly appreciated.

Please let me know if additional photos are needed. Thank you so much for your help!!!!

The third one is a Lexington Brief from sometime between 1987 to 1990.

There's a mention of it in several places in the Answers to Authenticity Questions thread, indirectly in the first one and a bit more clearly in the second one:

It's also mentioned in Daria48's Guide to Counterfeit Coach serial numbers at Ebay:

Thanks Beenburned, I see that now. I will use it if I spot any others.
I'm really impressed with how freely everyone shares knowledge and how friendly everyone is! Very glad I joined!
Have a great day ladies!
