BB, yes, I saw the previous comment about the seller and the source of some of her wallets. This made me wary about this particular wallet, which is why I asked for extra pics.

I'd like to get more opinions, but there are some things that concern me:
- The stitching on the inside of the wallet in the third picture in Post #2848 looks strange to me.
- The Coach stamp font looks off (pic #1 in Post #2848). The shape of some of the letters looks off.
- What kind of paper is the care card printed on? Is the paper shiny, matte, thin, or thick? I see something on your care card that isn't right when compared to other card cards.

It would help if someone had a genuine 42986 wallet to compare. It doesn't help for comparisons' sake that most of the 42986 wallets on ebay in both current and completed are from the same few sellers that we've been warning people about.

The care card is the same thickness as the tag which is the same thickness as the tags that came on my bags. The card is shiny like the tag. The front of the tag says Coach factory and looks the same as the Coach on the front of the card and has Coach in the right corner like the back of the card. I am hoping it is real but this is a learning experience for me which ever way it turns out.

have been watching these about coach black carly . a question-- the leather plaque stitched inside that has a number on the bottom -- is that always the same because 2 different bags that people wanted authenticated seemed to have same number . from 2 different sellers . if I was looking for this what determines the authenticity .

In order for us to authenticate the bag you're interested in, you'll see to post pictures or post links to the auctions.

Since 1994, Coach serial numbers are not unique. The same style bag can have the same serial number if they were made in the same month and year and in the same plant.

But again, pictures are a must because counterfeiters can make bags with correct serial numbers. We need to see the other details of the bag as well.

I agree with the other posters. Clotheshorsegal, the bag is fake. The serial number is invalid and the texture of the leather is wrong. Please end the listing asap.

Well at least if it does end up being a fake it is not a real obvious one. From now on I will only buy Coach items on ebay if someone on this site says it is authentic first. On the bright side the two handbags I bought appear to be authentic and I am happy with them. I really appreciate the time everyone took to look at these. Have a great day.
