Can someone have a look at this bag please? I can usually tell if a Coach is real bs. fake but this one has me stumped. I think it is because of the creed no. It appears to say 9790 but when I do a search on that number it comes up as the City. It is fading a bit on that side so maybe I am reading it wrong?

Thanks in advance!

Hi, how does this one look?

http://cgi.ebay.com/COACH-LEGACY-LE...s?hash=item3353e78a3e&_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116

Also, is it generally possible to buff out the scratches on the vintage leather?

Thanks!

Authentic! I actually like my Legacys with the "scratches." That's the nature of this type of "vintage-looking" leather and I think it adds character to the bag. I don't try to buff them out. The care card says not to use anything on the leather, but others have used Apple conditioner (mostly on Whiskey and black colored bags) and they say that it evens the color out. I wouldn't use anything on a lighter color like Camel.

I don't have a good feeling about that bag either. Not only is the style number wrong for the bag, but the N in "No" doesn't look right either. If you own the bag you should be able to see that part of the number much more clearly than we can with just photos to go by. The inside of the base doesn't look right either.

The bag actually looks like a Lexington Slim Bucket which is style 9802 but I don't think those were still made in 2002 as the year code would seem to indicate. I'm definitely leaning toward fake on this one but it's hard to say for sure without knowing when they stopped making that bag - but I'm pretty sure the Lexingtons were only made for a few years in the late 1990s starting in late 1997.

I've used Apple Conditioner on my whiskey, black, and white Legacy bags with no problems. I don't have a camel one though, so I can't comment on that.

Would this be the Lexington Slim you were talking about? You are right, this is the EXACT bag that I have. Same details, same shape, hardware is the same.

Hmmmm. I may have to take this to Coach to figure it out or not.

I have style 9802 - and it's the "Equestrian Zip".

The one you linked - 9806 - is the "Equestrian Slim Bucket".

I agree your bag "looks" like the Equestrian Slim Bucket, but I don't think it is authentic because of the totally wrong style number.

Plus, the entire font of the "No K2L 9790" just looks odd to me.

Just my humble opinion.

Sorry, my mistake, it's a copy of the EQUESTRIAN Slim Bucket # 9806, not Lexington 9802. Sorry for the confusion that my Senior Moment may have caused. But AFAIK, neither one was still being made in 2002.

And I doubt very much if anyone at a Coach store will know enough about serial numbers or 12-year-old bags to give you any solid information. They're aren't trained or experienced in it and Coach doesn't care about saving information about older bags. The only people at Coach who might be able to say for sure are their authentication staff in Jacksonville. The Customer Service department may be able to tell you what years style 9806 was made and what colors it came in but that's as far as their records go, assuming they even go back that far.

Thanks for your comment! I should clarify that I've also used Apple Conditioner on my Black and White Legacy bags. It's just my personal preference that I prefer my Whiskey, Brown, Raisin, and Juniper colors un-conditioned because I like how the leather looks vintage-y. When I said "I wouldn't use anything on a lighter color like Camel", I meant that personally. I'm sure there have been people who have conditioned the Camel color Legacys. If anyone has, I'd love to hear how it turned out!

Hello all
I would like your help with a bag. I bought a black Coach Legacy flap bag from eBay a few months ago. Now I have only recently noticed (!) that the creed has a 'X' stamped/embossed in the top left hand corner (I want to insert a pic but the file size is too large to be inserted :( ). The 'X' is not coloured, just a 'stamp' into the creed. I was surprised to see also that the stitching on one of the inner pockets has come loose from one corner as well - I expected Coach bags to be more robust than that (I had been using it as an everyday bag)!

My question is: is the bag fake, real or a 'second'? Or something else?! What does the stamped/embossed cross on the creed mean? Can somebody help with this please? I am considering reselling this on eBay as I don't really use it any more, but I would not sell a fake...your advice is appreciated!

Thanks
