If it's about 12x7x5 it's probably a Madison Satchel, or at least that was the name of the style in the late 80s. Nice bag, and definitely worth giving it a "bath" to bring it back. There are several posts here or up at the Coach forum, if you search "Coach bath" you should be able to find the instructions.

I don't think the hangtag is fake. I think it's just faded. The price tag is fine. That's an outlet price tag.

Just be careful of this seller coz I decided to confront him and ask for proof of purchase to be emailed to me since he offers 3 times money back if not authentic BUT surprise surprise, no response.

I have the same carryall in Black and I can tell you that there is something very strange about the quality of this bag - the handles are all floppy and soft, not like a proper Coach Carryall.

There's no way to tell the style from the serial number since it's an older bag made before 1994. As for measurements, everyone measures bags differently. If the actual mesurements are off by up to an inch, that's still close enough. I always mentally knock at least half an inch off Coach's measurements. It's probably a City Bag, made between 1989 and 1993.

Hyacinth,

Thanks so much!

One of the zippers on the inside looks different, and no serial #.
Thoughts? Thanks!

I actually owned what is a very, very similar bag that I purchased on ebay. I had it authenticated on the ebay "purse board" a couple of years ago. Mine was a solid color but everything else looks the same.

I thought mine was a "Sheridan", since those are infamous for weird creeds with no numbers. Maybe that one is a Sheridan but I was told mine was from a short lived Coach line and nobody knew the exact name.

The seller doesn't list the measurements, but mine was huge (16 x 12 x 5) and way too big for me, so I gave it to my daughter in law for her laptop.

Yeah, there is 2 diff types of zippers used (one above the creed and the one in the middle) and I could probably sew the lining back together, but didn't know that they made those sans serial #'s of any type.

It's definitely a Sheridan (BLAST! Why does the seller have to be a smoker?) but she doesn't list the measurements. If it's about 12x7 it's called a Wilmington Satchel. If there was a larger one made, I haven't seen it. There was a large briefcase called a Sumter Briefcase that was about 15x10 with a top handle, rounded flap and removeable shoulder strap though.

The leather, and not just the piping, looks pretty beat up and you really can't bring it back with Lexol. And if you use straight Lexol on a Sheridan, the residue collects in all those little "valleys" in the leather and it's a beetch to clean out.

The wallet is a Madison Checkbook Clutch, not a Sheridan. Oh, and probably a third of the Sheridan styles didn't have serial numbers on the creed. The style # for the satchel is 4227.
