someone gave this coach purse to me as a gift and told me that they bought it on ebay , so naturally i am a little concerned. Everything looks ok to me but just want to make sure because im no coach expert. So please let me know what you think?
I can't read the serial number on the creed but as Hyacinth pointed out, there seems to be a problem with the stitching. I also think that the leather patch, the hangtag and the straps look flimsier than they should. It seems to me that they should have more body.
I tried taking my own pics but cant figure out what is wrong with my camra. And my cellphone takes pics with very poor quality. As far a the Sereal number goes it is very visable on the handbag but i cant get a good pic of it with my cell phone. here is the sereal number
No CO969 13063 , and the creed says THIS IS A COACH BAG. IT WAS HANDCRAFTED IN CHINA FROM THE FINEST MATERIALS AND LEATHER. ITS SUPERIOR CRAFTMANSHIP REFLECTS OUR COMMITMENT TO ENDURING QUALITY.
I agree - don't return the item unless told to do so by Paypal. I'd hang on to it for a few months just to be on the safe side but once the dispute has been closed by Paypal they're usually done with the matter.
Did she refund the original shipping that you paid to have it sent to you? If so, that's probably all you can expect. If you didn't include the dollar amount of the original S&H in the Paypal dispute, there's not much you can do now to recover it. The amount you claim should always include the full price plus shipping.
And PLEASE leave a Negative! That's the only way that other buyers can be warned about people who are selling fakes. You can say something like "Coach keychain was cheap fake, seller forced to refund" but specify what kind of item it was to warn other buyers. Remember to keep it to 80 letters and spaces or less and keep it sounding calm and professional. You're not supposed to mention any Paypal claim or decision in Feedback but the "forced to refund" gets that point across very well.
And please be careful how you dispose of the keychain. Like a lot of toys and other things made in China by companies making them illegally, "on the cheap" and out of the eyesight of law-abiding corporate observers, those metal keychains are probably loaded with lead in both the paint and the metal itself, to lower the cost and to make the metals softer and easier to shape and stamp out. Please don't give them to anyone with pets or small children who might play with or even chew in the charms!
Also, DON'T report it as counterfeit or the Negative Feedback will disappear! Let it stay just the way it is, and file that Negative ASAP.
Do you all think I should write to her again explaining this?? As of this date she has not gotten back to me re: my message giving her the costs for shipping item back to her. I was going to send it back but now (as per everyones advise) I would rather send it to Coach for research (or somewhere like that).
First off, a fake should not be returned, it should be destroyed. Don't send it back - don't waste the money or time so that she can resell it (which is illegal, btw). I don't understand if you paid shipping initially. Sounds like you didn't, you just want return shipping? Like, I said, just throw it out and let it be over with. Give the seller negative feedback and report the listing as fake. Ebay's new policy will not let sellers give buyers negative feedback.
No, you've been refunded so you've been made whole. As Hyacinth commented earlier, hold onto the fake (in case Paypal decides they want you to do something with it) and eventually, you'll probably just discard it. The fact that you've been refunded tells me that Paypal probably considers the case over and done with. Personally, I wouldn't trust the seller not to relist the fake, given the opportunity.
It's tough leaving negative feedback but in this case, you were completely justified. The seller refused to do the right thing, which indicates to me, anyway, that she knew exactly what she was selling. She EARNED that neg.Your post gave me the courage I needed to report my first NEGATIVE ever. All the advise is really helpful! I wrote to Hyacinth too (later this day).
Don't feel stupid. That keychain (when the fakes are the right colors) is tough to identify as fake unless you have the real thing. The details where the counterfeiters screw up are minor and easily overlooked.I feel so stupid... Thanks for the advise - I'm not sending it back either, I'm going to destroy it somehow (or send it to Coach)
