Have you guys know how to tell the difference between a authentic coach and a 1:1 copied coach(the super A++++++++), I bought a bag (retail price $458) from Ebay and Paid $390 for it. (not receive yet). He insured this bag for $200. I assume that is his cost for this bag. This seller is a Chinese and lives in NYC. All of his Coach bags are the current season collections. The one I bought is gray color and is still selling on coach.com and some of the department stores still sell brown and black colors. My point is that it is not yet sold in outlet, so how can you get a huge discount for the current season collections? . The only thing I can think of is it is a 1:1 copied coach. The seller has like 80 listings of Coach bags and none of them comes with gift box and gift receipt. And the seller used stock pictures from coach.com. The seller id is ireen1688. http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-CAMEL-Crink...ryZ63852QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItemI am so worried it is a 1:1 copied coach. I heard even the coach store employee cannot tell the difference. I am very worried now. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

There's not a lot we can do to help. You can post close photos of the bag when you receive it and we can take a look, but the time to ask questions is before you bid, not after.

But why would you buy something where the seller doesn't even show a photo of the item you're actually buying? You've been a member here for two months, if you read the forum you'll know that we keep telling posters to NEVER buy from anyone who shows only one stolen stock photo of an item.

And the seller may be legitimate. Coach has special discounts for regular customers at the full-price stores every few months called a PCE, and it's possible the seller buys their merchandise with the discount card. There's an entire thread here devoted just to the PCE sales and discounts. The department stores, especialy Macys, also have sales during the year on Coaches. (And I don't really have to say that just because someone is Chinese and lives in New York, that doesn't mean he's selling fakes, do I?) The seller might even be using player points from the Mohegan Sun Casino to buy Coaches at the resort's Coach store.

You may be worrying about nothing. But all this should have been thought of before you bid. There was more than enough time to ask questions, especially about a seller who can't be bothered to take his own photographs. With all the cameras this guy seems to sell, there's NO excuse for not taking his own photos.

There's a huge amount of information at these forums, and it's all free to users. All anyone who's interested in a certain brand has to do is just take some time and do a little reading - AND ask questions!

Ok, your spanking is over. Post photos when you get your bag.

The only photo in this listing is a stock photo (stolen from coach's website). It is always a bad idea to purchase something without seeing actual photos of the item. Did you request photos of the bag that you can share with us?

Also, I checked this seller's rating on toolhaus.org and there is enough bad feedback to make me even more concerned.

If you have already paid, I'm afraid that your only option might try to verify authenticity when you receive the bag (yourself or by posting photos here) and if the bag is fake contact seller for refund/file a SNAD compliant.

Hopefully you paid with a credit card through paypal. (So that if paypal doesn't help you, maybe the credit card can solve the problem.)

BTW there is a lot of information on this site that can help you figure out what to look for and what to stay away from when buying on e-bay and other sites. It would be my recommendation that you look around and do some research before sending 100s of dollars to people who might be out to scam you.

Also, to answer your question: it is possible for someone to have a bag that has not made it to the outlet for less than full price. This is possible when they use PCE at coach or other discounts at department store. (However most of the time these discounts are close to 25% off and I would still expect the item to sell for more that 75% of the original price (due to fees on e-bay/paypal, etc.).

There are more tpf-ers who know more about this type of situation. Maybe someone else will have additional advice.

Thank you for all your advise and help. I am not worried about not getting my money back. What I am worried is that there is no way to tell it is fake if it is a 1:1 copy Coach. The 1:1 copy used the same leather, ykk zip, same stitches and the exact same creed. Even a Coach expet cannot tell the difference.

That's very true. That's why the seller's history, Feedback and reputation are so important, as well as the number and quality of the photos they show. Of course, some fakes sellers take lots of big clear pictures too, which makes my job a bit easier. :graucho:

Anyone who's really concerned about the high-quality fakes and who lives near a Coach store or outlet or one of Coach's affiliated department stores is going to be much safer and happier buying from a retailer. It's worth a two- or three-hour drive just for the peace of mind.

Yes, I know about PCE and that is why I doubt it is real because PCE only give 25% off but for a $458 bag and his cost is only $200 and it is not sold in outlet yet.

Since it is difficult to tell the difference between 1:1 copy and the real one, the seller will continue to have positive feedback and reputation. If I bring the bag to a Coach store, do you think it will help? but since there is no receipt included, I doubt they will check for me.

No, Coach stores won't authenticate - in fact they're not even trained to OR allowed to. The people at these forums are better at authentication than anyone I've ever found or even heard of at a Coach store. And if you tell them you bought it on Ebay, they'll often say it's fake.

The only legitimate authenticators for Coach that I know of are Authentic-Luxury.com:
http://authentic-luxury.com/authenticationservice.htm
or Coach themself, but if you send something to Coach and they determine that it's fake, you won't get it back. They destroy any fakes sent to them.
