How about this, I am pretty certain, but posted it first to make sure, before I reported it.

Do you think it's counterfeit?

I know almost nothing about newer Coach bags, but it looks OK to me. It does match the drilldown, though I know that doesn't mean a lot.

Definitely wait for others to comment, but I would not report unless I was 101% sure.

It was not something I was fimiliar with, so that it why I posted it here first.
The pocket buckles is what threw me. I did not want to report it and be wrong.
I like the style , if I was not on a ban and saving for a Sabrina, I would get it.

:confused1:I have 3 Coach bags that I would like help authenticating. I'm quite sure the first one is real because I bought it at the main Dayton's store in Minneapolis about 15 years ago (before it became Marshall Fields and then Macy's). However, after looking through some of the lists on this site that say serial numbers always have two numbers, I'm confused. The dark chocolate leather bag has no little leather square creed. Rather, it's embossed on the inside zip pocket and says "This is a Coach bag. It was handcrafted in the United States of completely natural glove-tanned cowhide. The variatiions in the grain are characteristic of natural full grain leather." Under that is the No K8D 9871. The bag has no lining, has 2 rolled leather handles and a detachable shoulder strap. Brass hardware and leather hang tag. The second bag in question I bought at a Coach Outlet store. It's a mini-sig East West Tote and the serial number is No G0851 F12345. Is it ok for the serial number to have more than 2 numbers in the first set? Now, the last bag is the one I'm reallly questioning. It's the first time I've bought a bag online and I'm wondering if I got the real deal or not. It's a signature bag with camel leather trim, nickel hardware and came with a matching wallet. The bag has 2 rolled leather handles and orange lining. The serial number has only one number in the first set: H3J-6366. Is that a valid number? I'm also having trouble getting the drill down page to open. It takes forever, and 90% of the time there are little red X's on the left. I can manually click and "show picture" of most of them, but's it's time consuming and I can't find the items I'm looking for. Any hints? Sorry for all the questions, but I'm new and still figuring this out! Thanks for any help.

Hi,

I'm sure you know it's impossible to comment without pictures and I'm not sure what you mean about "two numbers"?

K8D-9871 is a perfectly legitimate serial/style number for an older bag. In fact, the "8" between the K and the D indicate it was made in 1998. I think it's called a Beaumont Doctor's Satchel and I would love to see a photo of it. (By the way, all my older all leather Coach bags have the creed stamped directly on the leather on the inside).

The second bag I can't comment on - but the No G0851 F12345 only means it was made in 2008 and the F means it was made for the outlets.

The last one SHOULD look like this - not necessarily this color:

Can you post pictures of your bags? And definitely wait for other comments.

Thanks for asking. :smile1: Some of the earlier Legacys also had pocket buckles.

Thank you for answering my questions! I'm waiting for my son to come home to help me post pictures because I'm computer illiterate. I can type and that's about it! The third bag I questioned does look like the picture you sent to me, except it's khaki. You helped alot. I appreciate it!

It's authentic. If you couldn't manage to scoop up one of these during the 50% off outlet sale, then this is an ok price, it's one of the cheaper NWT ones going right now on ebay.

Both are authentic. The darkening on the bottom is completely normal and common on this type of leather. In fact, some bags come new from the store with darkening on the bottom. I think it must have happened as part of the manufacturing process. Apple conditioner might help to even out the color of the bag and make the darkening less noticeable. But it will make the overall color of the bag slightly darker. Although, Coach doesn't recommend using any type of treatment on Legacy leather, several tPFers have had success in using Apple conditioner on their Legacy bags. I've used Apple on my black Legacy leather bags and it's helped to make the leather look less dull. Using Apple on Whiskey bags would help to disguise the scratches. I don't mind the scuffs and scratches, as I consider them part of the nature of the leather and I think they add character to the bag.
