Hi all, this is a great forum!! I'm new here and wanting to buy coach. I've been outbid on ebay already for a few purses I felt comfortable were real (used purses). Anyway, my question is in regards to different styles of keyfobs. If anyone knows, please help. I'm looking at a yellow leather sun keychain. I've seen it 3 different ways. Strange to me there would be three kinds of such an inexpensive coach item, so I'm thinking one or all are fake. One has a brass ring and brass coach tag. The second has a silver ring and pink coach tag with a clip. The third has a silver ring and white coach tag. EEK!! What's a girl to do? The website only lists current coach and is of no help.
If anyone has insight with regard to if they make different styles of the same keychain. Please let me know. I'm asking here because I figure the fake bag experts would know all about this but please excuse me if I'm in the wrong area.
Thanks so much!!

If you could post pictures of the keyfobs that would be great! It's hard to authenticate with out pictures. Welcome to the Purse Forum!!!!

I just found this website today (which is GREAT!), but I bought my 1st Coach pictured below last September. After reading all the tips on how to spot a fake, I already have my own opinions, but wanted someone else to take a look. Please tell me what specifically (so I can continue to learn) led you to your decision.

Thanks!

It looks good to me except one thing is throwing me, but it could just be because the bag is from 2002. The o in NO_ is bigger than it is on bags manufactured more recently. Here is a creed from the same bag that was made in 05.

See how the o is smaller on this one. It could just be that in 2002 the creed style was different. I am not sure, because my bags are more recent and all have the smaller o. So I am hoping someone who has a bag from 2002 can confirm whether, the size of the O was bigger back then. If so, I think the bag is authentic, but I am not positive. I would hold off for another opinion.

Yep, that's what I was thinking - the larger "o" in the No. on the creed doesn't look right. My other clue was that on the hang tag, there's no metal circle around the edge of the little hole (forgot the word for that piece).

But other opinions are still welcome!

I bought that bag on ebay last September, not knowing how to spot a fake. My question is, would you still wear it? Is it really obvious? I can't "legally" sell it on ebay if it's not real. And I'm guessing it's WAY to late to do anything about it now with the seller of the item.

On a brighter note, I did receive my very first 100% FOR SURE authentic (purchased directly from Coach!) bag this weekend. I'm super excited. I love it! :-) It's the Hamptons Signature Perforated Satchel. I'm in love.

Is this scribble bag authentic?

No. The C's aren't properly centered, the font on the white leather patch is wrong, and the stitching on the leather patches is uneven compared to a real Coach. Do you have any photos of the creed patch?

Also, that's a 2007 bag and should NOT have a registration card included. Fake.

These are very common fakes.

First of all, anything with ANY pink on it is fake.

The photo of the one on Coach's website isn't accurate either. The genuine Sun fob should have a brass keyring, a large brass Coach hangtag and a brass chain and eyelet. The main part of the sun is yellow and the inner part of the rays are sort of pumpkin yellow with gold metallic edging on one side. Coach is stamped on the front and the back is plain. Made In China is stamped on the back of the brass hangtag. And they ONLY made this in that one color combination - anything else is fake.

These are both nasty fakes:

There are no genuine ones on Ebay at the moment. This is the photo on Coach's website but as I said, the colors aren't the same as the actual keychain. A lot of counterfeiters made the mistake of copying it though:

You may want to watch for listings from these sellers who sell genuine Coach accessories:
amyjude, horseblock, luisang, RocktownFavorite, trishastar1, younglabels, youhappymehappy

There were usually some differences in the size of the digits on the creed when they were being stamped at a new production plant which this one would have been since it's one of the early Chinese-made bags. The creed stamping looks OK and so does the hardware on the front of the bag. Most of the fakes I've seen of these Clip-style bags use really cheap clips and rings but this one looks OK although a better photo of the front clip would help.

The hangtag wasn't supposed to have a grommet, BTW. I'd say it's genuine.

Thanks!

I'm not an expert on Coach, but ccording to this post (link below), the purse is not authentic for several reasons: Coach hang tag always has a grommet (rivet) around the opening, but this one doesn't. The "o" with the line under it in "No.," is as long as the "N." The stitching is always straight all the way through, especially on the creed, but this one has stitching that is angled up. But I really have no idea.

The Coach hangtag on that bag is fine. A lot of my bags have hangtags that don't have a grommet around the opening. My problem was with just the o in No, because all my bags have the smaller o. But I knew that it could just be in 2002 they made the o bigger. Everything else on the bag looks authentic. That's why I wanted to wait for someone else's opinion who has a bag from that far back. Hyacinth, says that back then the styling of "No" was different. So based on that, I think the bag is authentic.

Is this scribble bag authentic?

Yup that is a definite fake. The color of the trim is wrong, the C's are too dark, and not centered. The handles are the wrong color and it doesn't have the pink hangtag. The front patch is also all wrong.

Did you purchase this bag already? If so I would contact the seller and let them know that this is a fake and would not pay. This is what the real bag looks like

If you are interested in the bag though, check with your local Coach outlet. I bought my bag from a Coach outlet for $168 plus tax.

I haven't purchased it yet. I wanted to make sure before I put a bid in. Good thing I did! Thanks you!!
