Well at first glace I'd say it's okay -- one thing that sticks out though is the model # on the creed is 7458 (or at least that's what it looks like).. and on coach's site, that corresponds to a similar bag, but in leather not signature

see http://www.coach.com/assets/product_images/drilldown1/7458_d1.jpg

So I guess I'd say most likely it's authentic.. but maybe wait for one of the other tPF members to check it as well.

She just sent me a picture of the creed. I have to figure out how to pose it here. The creed says 7469 on the picture she just sent.

Wtf? How the heck does selling fakes support terrorism? Anyway, more importantly:

I could understand being banned by eBay, because it's the seller's responsibility to insure the authenticity of their items, but I don't know why Coach would sue - basically, they'd have to prove that your wife knowingly sold a fake, which seems hard to do. I guess the only thing you can do is get a lawyer, and hope he or she can convince a judge that your wife really is an innocent and naive as you say she is.

You don't have to KNOWINGLY sell a fake to be guilty of breaking the law, as anyone who has ever tried the "I didn't know the speed limit was 25 on this street" excuse could tell you.

And as I said before, if Coach is going to sue someone I wish they'd concentrate on the carreer criminals that sell fakes by the hundreds.

That's a first for Paypal..telling your wife that Coach is going to sue her..I've never heard of Paypal doing that to anyone. I can't imagine that they would get THAT involved. Frankly, from what you write, it seems fishy to me that a) the bag was a fake in the first place, and b) that Paypal would get involved to that level. My question is did this buyer receive documentation in writing that the bag was not authentic?
Usually Paypal will side with the buyer on cases such as this, and sometimes, honest sellers get the shaft from unscrupulous buyers who know they can get away with phony claims.
If I were you, I would contact the Attorney General of the state of Nebraska and file a complaint against Paypal. You can also file a complaint with the FTC, and with the BBB of Nebraska and California (against ebay). If your wife truly believes that the bag was indeed a genuine Coach, that's what I would do. Paypal tends to back off and pull their horns back in when they get a complaint from the Attorney General's office in Nebraska.

Hyacinth:
I've been meaning to ask you, are some of the outlet pieces not on the drilldown? I saw the new spring patchwork line listed on ebay, but not one of them is on the drilldown....Thanks!

This is what came up on the coach drill down.
It's a legacy signature cotton from last spring 2006. Very pretty bag!
