Authenticate This! Coach

Thanks so much for posting your monkey pics. I've examined yours up to the Ebay one. The monkeys lips on yours are red but are tan on Ebay's. Also, yours looks darker - has it always looked like that or has it darkened over time?
Guess what...I had emailed the seller about the hangtag earlier, went back a bit later and noticed the listing had been pulled. Here's the response I got from the seller:

"[FONT=Arial, Verdana]No it does not. I didn't notice this before so I pulled the ad. I want to take the keychain into my local coach store and have them verify this is a real coach item. I purchased several keychains as part of a lot from another seller. They are hard to find and I didn't need 7 of them so I decided to sell them on an individual basis. The coach logo is stamped on the back of the keychain but I don't want to take any chances. I will send you an e-mail note as a follow-up once I get the information needed from the coach store (I will be going there on Tuesday night.) Thank you for your question."[/FONT]

Maybe I scared her so she ended the auction instead of trying to go through with it?!?! Who knows...maybe she WILL come back and say they're real, but after seeing your pictures I am a bit skeptical. I noticed the color difference but I thought that could be due to different dye lots or production in different factories. I haven't noticed any color change in the one I own. I think the features match-they look very much alike. I think the seller is being cautious-she has a good reputation and it's not worth selling a counterfeit monkey and ruining it. Let us know what happens!

Thanks for your input, I am curious to hear other opinions. Every other Carly I've seen seems to have the C's placed the same/uniformly. I would just hate for someone to pay over $300 for something that's fake but I don't want to report something just b/c I think it's fake, KWIM?

Exactly! I wonder if we'll ever REALLY KNOW!??! I am sure you'll get some more input from others. Let's see what they say!! I am definitely hesitant about this one - it seems to be a really REALLY good fake!

^^^ The only explanation I can give is that the ebay bag is photographed on the opposite side than the bag on Coach.com. I know there have been other bags we've discussed that don't look the same on both sides. That's just a guess though.

I recognized the seller b/c I've seen some of their other auctions so I immediately thought it must be real. BUT those C's being off on just that bag - every other Carly I've seen has the same C placement.

That is odd (just did some resesarch), it could have come from a factory store. I believe Rainbow06 got a Carly in black there the other day. Maybe this is a factory bag because it was cut wrong. The seller does say that if found not to be authentic they will reimburse you 10x the amount of the sale. IDK what else to tell ya.

Very true. The difference in the color of the LIPS is questionable though & I have heard of a lot of fakes on the monkeys.
I do agree with you though - she does have really good feedback. I am hoping this works out for her - especially if SHE got scammed thinking she was buying authentic monkeys at a great price (I'm sure). I wonder where she bought them?!!?

yea, that caught my eye as well. maybe it's like seas said and it's a pic of the back? wait, I just looked at the pics again and the both the front and back look the same. Hopefully one of the tpf experts will weigh in.

That's true...guess it could be a 'goof' bag. It looks so real other than that! I don't know if I'd want a bag that people would question all the time though (unless it was a real steal!!). KWIM

I do know what you mean - I def would not want a questionable bag even if it was an "authentic" defective bag (if that even makes sense, ha ha). And whoever wins it is going to be paying over $300

Oh I see, sorry I jumped into the middle of your conversation. In general, most of the large Carly's on ebay are going for close to retail and it would be easier to order one online or pick up one in the store. Also eliminates the $15-$20 shipping fee. You will be reassured that way too, knowing where your bag came from. ;P
