I found another listing (not previously discussed) by the current seller. I'm interested in opinions.

I don't believe it is authentic. I only have Thailand in my files as being valid for the R plant, starting in 1999. Even if R were an authentic US plant in 1996, it is very doubtful that it would use a font and spacing we see on tons of fakes and never on an authentic bag from any plant.

The only other US plant R code I've seen was with a J5R- prefix and a "puffy" creed stamp that should never have been in a bag from 1995, There are no other J6R- serials anywhere for comparison.

I don't see any problems with the rest of the bag but some critical areas aren't shown in the photos, like the turnlock back and the strap mountings. There's a problem with the strap in that it's mounted wrong, the shorter end with the buckle should always be on the left when you're looking at the front of a Coach. But that could even have been done by the owner.

There's just no way to say for sure with what little information I have. Apparently I've never seen any J6R- prefixes, or any that seemed worth saving photos of. And there haven't been any solid *5R-, *6R- or *7R- serials either.

Here's the fake J5R- from my files in the first photo. Second photo is the Watson Bag that BB is asking about. The serial number font looks identical:

Really hoping someone can help me out. Just received this Black Patent Gallery Tote. It looks to be in great condition, I'm just a bit concerned about the letter spacing on the creed. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

It is a Coach F17728 Gallery Patent Leather Black Tote (hopefully!)
Sorry. Somehow I missed this post.

The bag looks fine and the spacing is correct for this item and the date and plant in which it was made.

Hello, can someone please authenticate this purse purchased on Poshmark.

Item: vintage Coach satchel
Listing number: unknown
Seller: lsavitt
Link: https://poshmark.com/listing/Vintage-coach-satchel-5686f34a44adba4f7605e1af

Dimension: 9 1/2 (L) x 8 1/4 (H) x 3 (D)

Comments: The purse looks like a court, however, the creed is difficult to read since it's faint but it says "L4C-9955 or L4C-9956" and there is a line around the creed. There's an opening on the top where the handle is attached looks bigger than expected. In addition, the backside of the turnlock plate has indentation on it. I compared it to my Court bag and these are the differences that I have noticed. The overall quality of the bag including the stitching does not look authentic.

Thanks in advance for your help!

It is fake. It has the wrong style number. The way the front panel under the flap is curved wasn't done on court bags until around 1999; any authentic court made before that is straight across there. If this was made after 1999, the creed wording would be different and the date code wouldn't indicate 1994. Compare it to the attached picture. As you've noted, the back of the turnlock has indentations and there is a line around the creed. The creed font is wrong. I hope you don't have any trouble getting your money back.
And it looks like the Poshmark seller lsavitt (aka Leah's closet) is in denial. She was even given a link to the (un) authentication!

I don't know how disputes are filed on Poshmark and I hate that Poshmark doesn't act on counterfeit reports but psr101 should file a dispute for a full refund. And if there's a feedback you can leave, leave appropriate comments!

Hey ladies! I'd like to ask for authentication for two bags for my mother. She recently acquired two bags from a thrift store and both are stamped made in the USA. The first of the two measures 10.5x7.5" and is stamped 064-8054. The second little pouch is 5.5x5" and stamped 0448-120. The second one confuses me because the ones like it I've always seen were stamped 9826. Are these both just very old and have their own numbers? I can't find either serial # for either bag online. Thank you! ImageUploadedByPurseForum1462993048.330640.jpgImageUploadedByPurseForum1462993060.626152.jpgImageUploadedByPurseForum1462993071.958259.jpgImageUploadedByPurseForum1462993083.853034.jpg

Both bags were made before 1994 and have unique serial numbers rather than a style number in the creed. You can't look up the numbers online. Both are authentic. The first is a companion bag 9300, made between 1989 and 1992. The second is a mini belt bag, as you've already guessed. It was probably made around 1992-1993.

I don't know if your seller is honest enough to actually want to hear the truth - I doubt it - but you might also point out to her is that the serial number L4C-9956 has been KNOWN TO ALWAYS BE FAKE for at least the last 8 years and probably longer.

I posted it here at tPF in the March 30, 2011 Coach Fake Numbers List, and the -9956 number was spotted as questionable here as far back as 2007:

http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-sh...enticity-questions-94198-37.html#post18503288

"-9956 - Any bag with a serial # ending in -9956 needs to be looked at by someone very familiar with Coach, every one we've seen so far has been either an obvious or probable fake...

L4C-9956 or any style ending in -9956 - every one so far has been fake. The L4C- prefix usually appears in fake Signature fabric bags and so far -9956 has never been seen in a genuine bag."

Point out to your seller that not only has the number been declared as "always fake" here at tPF and also by my friend Daria48 in her ongoing Coach Fakes List posted at Ebay:
http://www.ebay.com/gds/Fake-Coach-Serial-Numbers-NT-4903-and-more-/10000000002744619/g.html

but if she had actually Searched for "Coach L4C-9956" on Google, she would have found links to BOTH guides. Too bad she's too greedy to want to hear the truth. THE FIRST HALF DOZEN LINKS GO RIGHT TO VARIOUS DISCUSSIONS HERE and to EBAY'S GUIDES AND POSTS AT THEIR ARCHIVED DISCUSSION FORUM.
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...avclient-ff&rlz=1B3GGGL_enUS363US350&ie=UTF-8

Please feel free to copy this post and send it to her, and a copy to whoever at Poshmark handles complaints about counterfeit items along with what the other experts here have already told you about the fake you received, and WHY it's fake.

BeenBurned, Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to my post. I so appreciated it!!

While searching for one of those old organizer purses from the 90s for my mom on etsy, I happened across a listing for a Patricia's Legacy Cross Body and fell in love. I have not ever searched for older/vintage Coach purses and have zero experience with them. Without doing my usual research or consideration, I bought it. Shortly after I decided to look up some more vintage Coaches and discovered this forum. I'm now terrified that I made a big mistake, but I don't think I can post sold etsy posts here. So, I'll submit that bag when it's delivered and see what you experts think. Thanks for all this expertise! I have read hundreds of these pages over the last couple of days. I have vacillated between thinking I have obviously bought a fake and thinking that it's probably ok.

In the meantime, here is my newest obsession:
