Lot listing of 2 "vintage" wallets

Comments: I'm curious about others' opinions of these wallets. I've never seen such a large logo and the location of the logos on these wallets. Note that the description states that one of the wallets has a "made in China" tag, something I don't believe would be on a wallet this old.

Not just the size of the logos, but the zipper hardware was simply painted to match the leather. I've NEVER seen any genuine Coach zipper, no matter what zipper manufacturer's name was stamped on it, lose all the color like that just from everyday wear. The zippers don't look like they're sewn in correctly. and the way the wallets are put together and the design details aren't like anything I've ever seen before. The overly long zipper pull doesn't look like any Coach-affiliated brand I've ever seen. There aren't any metal stops on the zipper ends either, the few I've been able to find pictures of always seem to have stops on the closed ends.

Coach didn't start heat-sealing the edges of the credit card slots in wallets until the mid 1990s - the Madison and Sonoma wallets had credit card slots that were heat-sealed instead of stitched by around 1994-95. My Sheridan wallets that may be a year or two older still have stitched CC slot edges. So these wallets IF they were genuine wouldn't be older than 20 years, but none of those details on the fakes are found on any other Coach wallets from that time. Some older wallets may have had heat-sealing too but I don't have any photos or examples that go that far back.

The kisslock coin pocket looks like it was added as an afterthought, I've never seen one on a Coach look so shoddy. The lining in one of the fakes is trying to look like what was used in the Sheridans but it's not. And the lining is sewn in very badly and the stitching doesn't really match what's on the rest of the wallet, almost as if it was added afterwards.

The Coach stamp on one of the flaps is seriously off-center - second to last pic. I don't remember a lot of older Coach wallets having "genuine leather" stamps either, but I'm too lazy to go back and dig into my storage boxes again.

Look at the cracked edge along the top of the pocket in the 5th picture. Have you EVER seen that happen on a Coach?

And look at the area in the checkbook cover the seller refers to when she says "Kisslock wallet interior tag removed (notice right side of checkbook sleeve)". Has anyone ever seen a Coach with a wide fabric tag like the one that was apparently cut off in ANY Coach checkbook cover? I sure haven't.

It looks like those are two generic wallets with an identifying fabric tag cut out of one of them, and 2 old-fashioned-looking Coach stamps added afterwards.

I completely agree. Coach never put such large logos or in that place on vintage styles, and vintage styles never had a fabric or paper tag sewn in. The shape of the flaps is odd too.

Sorry, did you post pictures? I'm not seeing any.

A"correctly worded plaque" doesn't prove anything about authenticity, although an INcorrectly worded one is a major red flag.

And whoever told you that Coach never ends their numbers in a 5 (or ANY other number!), and that's what they actually said, is full of donkey dung and you should NEVER EVER listen to any of their advice or opinions on Coach products ever again. EVER.

Hopefully this will work this time :smile1:

From the description (and my knowledge), I don't think these are made by Coach but on the off chance that Coach may have licensed someone to make them, I'll post the question.
