Comments:Niece purchased a few Vintage Coach purses without authenticating first - creed stamp was not included in listing - I took photos and attached - also seller has bad feedback for selling what someone says is a non-authentic coach and I noticed some wrinkling in the leather and was not sure if that is a bad sign.

Many thanks for your expertise.

It looks ok, the "wrinkles" are mostly in places where the leather would have been stretched by the weight of the bag's contents.

There's no way to tell if the Court Bag she got a Neg for is real or fake - if the seller had any common sense at all, she'd take a full set of photos showing the creed and serial number of all her Coach items. It's hard for me to feel sorry for someone who could have posted a full set of photos both to make potential buyers more confident that they were getting a genuine item, and to protect her butt if someone falsely accused her of selling them a fake. She can post 12 photos at no cost, why doesn't she?

THIS ONE, HOWEVER, WAS FAKE:

Ironic that this time she DID take a creed photo (no serial number though) and apparently never noticed the "SCRTCHES" in the creed.

I can't recommend seller " justfine2 "

Thank-you very much and thanks for taking the time to verify - it's a great thing!. I have learned a lot on this forum. :) and taught my niece to ******************. I polished the brass with brasso and it looks pretty good - and she is going to clean and condition it. She loves it so I am glad it looks OK.

Please authenticate... TIA

Comments: I do not think it is authentic, I only have seen one similar but with brown leather, I believe it was called Legacy Stripe Varsity. The hang tag looks really fake to me, but I am not the expert ;)

The real fabric - and this isn't even a good copy of any of the styles - was called Legacy Variegated Stripe. I don't remember any with gold metallic leather but I could be wrong, the ones I remember have vachetta leather and silver-color hardware. A few of the smaller pieces had dark leather and brass hardware.

Hope you saw the comments I added 10 or 15 minutes after my original reply.

Good afternoon everyone, it looks like my second post from a couple of days ago got buried underneath a pile of other messages (yes, I know how popular this thread is!). Could someone with knowledge of mid-2000s models (the care card says it was made in 2007) take a look at this wristlet/clutch? I haven't seen it before, and I'm really curious about it's name. Keeping my fingers crossed and hoping it's authentic. Thank you in advance!

I can't find it in my files. If no one else can, that could be why they didn't answer.

Wait for more opinions, or maybe there's just no way to tell from the pictures. There are hundreds of styles especially of ones made for the Factory stores that might not have had any photos of them saved.

Just to add- they did use that red and orange color combination in 2008, I've seen it on other bags (some also with outside kisslock pockets) and accessories. And the inside fabric patch seems ok but it's hard to tell from a smallish photo.

I did not until you flagged me - interesting. You are so right on about the photos. I would not have purchased without seeing the full photos - but my niece is a kid. did take some time to educate her.

I sell on ebay - mainly watches not purses - and I take full advantage of the photos because I want people to know exactly what they are getting.so with the detailed description I provide and the photos everything is disclosed and I guess that is why I am fairly successful at it.

I have no sympathy either -I think some sellers purchase at thrift stores, goodwill or whatever and do not check their items.

I sell fashion watches and also a good amount of brand names and sometimes I get in fairly expensive watches that were supposedly store models and I fully 100% check it out before posting - If i have any doubts I check with a jeweler - to ensure authenticity.

Thanks for the additional digging- it is good to know for the future.

I think this is OK. Please let me know, thanks!

Genuine, looks like a Sheridan Charleston Bag from 1992 or 1993, style number 4217
I'm not sure how you feel about "mixers," sellers who mix fakes with authentic items.

buibechi1 had a fake listing reported and removed after being posted here (removed on March 1):
http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-sh...coach-fakes-here-824098-206.html#post29906163

On March 17, I reported 4 more fakes, since removed and in July, 2015, my records show I reported 5 listings for fakes from the seller.

I don't recommend buibechi1.

You're correct. It's fake.

I have good teachers... :D;)

Thank you BeenBurned, to the "report fakes" thread I go.

They did make some items with metallic gold leather and there are more current pieces too. Although the striped fabric isn't the same, the counterfeiters don't necessary make sure that it's identical. They just try to copy what they perceive as "similar" enough to fool.

For example, 92626 was a luggage tag with gold leather and 60557 was a pencil case and in 2011 and later, there was a Julia card case (46800) and tablet sleeves.

Woah! That's a lot of fakes. Will add that seller to my "don't buy from" list. Thanks!

Yep, I have bags with the original legacy Stripe linings, and a Poppy Legacy Sequined Stripe, a wallet with more of a canvas stripe, and a Legacy Variegated (never can remember how to spell it!) Stripe Leah Tote with the different size stripes, like the Coach pic below. And they had at least 3 or 4 other variations. Coach got a lot of mileage out of those stripes! :D
