For some reason the UK site isn't showing the additional photos in the first listing, just a bunch of HTML. Changing "ebay.CO.UK" to "ebay.com" solves the problem.

1 and 2 look good.

The third one has some problems with the creed, the serial number and the hardware, I doubt very much if it's genuine

The fourth one is probably OK, but it's a style I've never seen before, and it's old enough to have NOT been in Coach's computer files. So if the seller took it to a Coach store they would not have been able to confirm it's genuine, thjey were just guessing. The details look ok and the serial number font looks very similar to a genuine bag in my files except for the style number, but I always worry when a style suddenly turns up that i've never seen or heard of before. If anyone has any information on a style 9989 from 1996, I'd love to see it. Ive posted photos below, bag is about 9x9x4 according to the seller and probably from the Willis/Station Bag family.

The fifth one looks good, probably an Avenue Bag style 9886 from around 1990-91

Just wanted to add that the seller of the third one, passion4finds also sold this fake:

I don't recommend passion4finds.

Good afternoon ladies! I picked up a bag this morning at estate sale that I would appreciate authenticating. I have read about the 8 number serial numbers with no dash as being VERY rare but have never actually seen one until now. This bag has 8 serial numbers. Any help with style (looks similar to Collegiate bag) and date is very appreciated for this unique find.
Approx Measurements are H 5.5" x L 8.0" x W 3.0" Drop is 19.0" at first hole. Very sorry about the rotated pictures upon upload.

Best regards:smile1::smile1:

Thank you Hyacinth! As always, great information! I'd be interested to know more about the 4th as well. I love the style and have never seen it before

There's another style in the same number range and also from the Willis family that I've only seen one example of, someone called it a Sherbourne and it had style number 9987. It was similar to the one you asked about but with rounded corners and a dowel, and the measurements are almost the same. They were so similar to other bags already in production that it might not have made sense to add them to an already crowded style range.

Any info anyone can supply would also be appreciated. I wonder if these were the equivalent of the more recent Pilot bags and never made it to full production - pictures below.

It's an authentic Collegiate bag #9815 from the late 80s.

Genuine, and I think you're right, it's a Collegiate Bag from the late 1980s, style 9815

ETA - sniped by Whateve! :D

This is wonderful, ladies. Much appreciated. I am curious about the unusual method of stamping serial numbers like this-using a string of 8 numbers? was this an unintentional error, experiment or accidental? This is rather exciting to have this bag and I would love to hear your insight on this anomaly as a historical perspective. Regards.

It's an accident. The numbers were each on a separate roller, as well as the dash. Someone turned the ring that was supposed to be set to the dash to a number by mistake.
