Speak of the devil - this is the first NT-4903 I've ever seen!
Would appreciate expert input before I report. TIA!

Yup, fake and reportable.

ETA: hikingthroughlife also has this very close fake:

Note her creed:

And the creed from an authentic bag of the same style.

Wow - thanks for your input on both of these BeenBurned - will report!

Would appreciate your help on this one. I wasn't sure if "H" is an acceptable plant code for a US bag.

Item: Patricia's Legacy bag
Listing: eBay item number:322032252140
Seller: marshusa
Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-Vinta...252140?hash=item4afa9e34ec:g:UmcAAOSwYlJW3bKm

Thanks for your time!

WOW. Not even close. The year code is for 2002 but there aren't any other confirmed H plant bags in my files for that year, and only 1 questionable bag for 2001. The font doesn't match anything in my files, and 6046 is NOT the style number for a Patricia's Legacy, in fact I can ONLY find that number on Google for a Signature Tote or Carryall which fits with the other styles and style numbers in that sequence so it's a good chance that number belongs to that Signature style.

Along with those problems, the creed stamp is much too low on the pocket, and there are other details that don't fit. I have to say FAKE. Here's what 6046 SHOULD look like (and BTW, be EXTREMELY cautious about any bag that was "a gift" like this one, since half of them turn out to be fakes). At the bottom is the fake creed with the bogus serial prefix and wrong style number.

There's nothing wrong with the bag. Did the buyer tell you why she thinks it's fake?
I asked that question, but they have not responded. They filed a not as described or pictured return with eBay stating they believe the bag to not be authentic. I have no problem with returns, but not under false pretense. I guess we will see where this goes. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks =)

Ugh! I understand that sometimes buyers don't know the details of items they're buying but I take issue with those who accuse sellers of selling fakes without doing their own research.

Additionally, your listing has a 14-day return policy allowing her to return it for any reason so it's not necessary to open a dispute. (Sellers with no-return policies often find that buyers open disputes because they assume it's the only way they'll get to return an item that isn't to their liking, but in this case, she could have returned it because her dog doesn't like the color!)

Have you referred her here? Perhaps she can express her concerns.

I knew your foldover (fake) style was previously discussed but it took me a bit of coffee to find it.

Unfortunately, there aren't any pictures that were posted at the time and it was about 5 years ago when those fakes first started surfacing so I didn't think to save the pictures.

Both Hyacinth and I posted.

12926 (Amanda foldover) is what it's trying to copy:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NWT-COACH-S...821504?hash=item3cee95a200:g:hRUAAOSw-vlVk56G

Oh boy, that digging sure took a lot of work! It's been a while - before I was born, or, at least, born again as a Coach lover ;) I really appreciate it, BeenBurned. Apart from seeing other clutches like mine in different colors (I've seen them in black, navy, taupe, which was really pretty, and pink), another thing that significantly impared my judgement was the fact that I have a weak spot for foldover clutches. And I do have both authentic Amanda and Madeline, but I was positive that model was something else (and it was! :( ), because I knew exactly how the first two look like. In fact, I think this fake foldover was a cross-breed between those two, because it had a kisslock like Amanda, but it's within the fold, not in the back, and was made of leather like Madeline (and Madeline's zipper pocket is within the fold). In size and shape it's still closer to Madeline, as Amanda is about 1 3/4" higher when folded. Madeline's serial number is F13580, but it only says that on the paper tag (I bought it new with tags), and it's official name is "Madeline Leather Foldover Clutch". Amanda does have a leather patch inside with the #, but mine would be different from those you're reffering to since those are mono-colored, and mine has a C pattern (official name is Amanda Optic Graphic Foldover Clutch, #12928). What differs "mine" from those two is it is (was) made of very thick leather that holds the bag's shape (I couldn't feel any padding to the touch) as it was supposed to be carried both as a clutch or wristlet. I've even seen one on eBay with a long thin double strap a long time ago, but I assumed it was some optional detail or a slightly different version. Since it had two eyelets on the ends of the fold, you could use a long strap or a wristlet loop, worn on either side, both with trigger snaps. Honestly, the fact that it didn't strike you or Hyacinth as a fake instantly makes me feel a bit less stupid - I still think it was very well made for a counterfeit Coach. This one was, as you say, "faked right" ;)

I am going to refer her here, and hope for the best.

In the past I've found that if a buyer opens a not as described return and loses her claim, she loses her chance to return the bag.

Kindly authenticate, thanks in advance!

COMMENT: I'm wondering about strap - all the 4933s and 4907s I’ve seen have a different type of strap - they have a brass ring that attaches strap to sides of bag.
I think it is authentic. I had a 4907 made in 1997 in Costa Rica that had the same kind of strap attachment. My late 1996 model had rings. They must have changed it in 1997.

How would she lose the claim though? From what I've seen, even if ebay doesn't believe (or know) that an item is SNAD, ebay usually tells the buyer to return the item to the seller for a refund.

I just wish buyers would approach the seller, the fashion board on ebay or seek an authentication here before filing.

I think any seller who sells long enough and/or in enough quantity will eventually have a buyer who either unknowingly or falsely accuses a seller of selling a fake. And I personally know the sick feeling you get in the pit of your stomach and the racing heartbeat you feel as you attempt to convince the buyer that she's mistaken. It would save stress on both sides if questions and concerns could be addressed.

Ebay doesn't always automatically side with the buyer. There was that thread in the ebay forum where the buyer had to provide an authentication to ebay to prove it was fake before they instructed her to destroy it.

I know exactly what it feels like. It has happened to me several times. I've always been able to convince the buyers they were wrong and they kept the bags.
