Hi Everyone

This fake came up up in one my searches, kindly verify before I report. TIA!

Item: COACH SONOMA flap brown NATURAL GRAIN LEATHER shoulder BAG MADE IN USA 4919
Listing number: 131744320689
Seller: lovelyfabulous

Wrong lining, wrong creed wording. I don't have any records of the R plant being used in the US, and not in 1996. The first use I have of it is Thailand in 2000.

It looks a bit odd but it might just be overstuffed. There is nothing to prove it is fake. Personally I wouldn't buy from a seller who doesn't post clear creed pictures. I understand that you only get 5 pictures on etsy but one of them should be a creed picture.

That is what irritates me the most, I've been looking at so many coach handbags and hardly any have the creed stamp or a partial you can't read. People research before listing stuff, the creed is mandatory when listing a bag. I'm so tired of emailing asking for a creed photo.

Hello,

Requesting input on authenticity for this bag. Pictures posted on pinterest, since an error message was received in trying to upload here. Thanks.

DAMN, I HATE sites that require a membership login just to see their pages.

Sorry, that bag is counterfeit. I'm seeing problems both inside and outside, and those details don't match other 9085s with the same plant, month and year codes.

As always, more opinions are welcome.

Thank you, any elaboration on the problems and details that don't match? Thanks for your time. Hopefully, I will be able to link pictures directly on this website soon.

The serial number stamp used by the D plant from 1994 to the end of the decade was very distinctive and was never changed for almost 5 years (the CREED stamp did change in 1995 to the newer wording but the original SERIAL stamp assigned to them in early 1994 stayed the same until the end of 1998 when it was replaced or supplemented with serial stamp mechanisms inherited from closed or deactivated plants)

The green bag's creed and serial stamps are fake, the tan bag's stamps are genuine. Compare the details and shapes of the digits and logo VERY carefully. There's also a difference in one detail on the outside of the bag - Coach always kept details like seaming and trim identical among bags of the same style. An area of the picture of the green bag's base is enlarged to show details, the quality of the stitching itself is poor compared to the real one but that's not the only problem.

And yes, such small details DO make a huge difference in authenticity.

So this is interesting, I found a station type bag on etsy but dodgy creed photo. I asked the seller for a photo which she said she would send a few min ago and now the bag is pulled.

Etsy
Hollister54
https://www.etsy.com/listing/261826956/90s-authentic-coach-small-briefcase-in-a

I can't tell anything from those photos. The listing was sold, not pulled.

Can an etsy seller mark a bag as sold? I just find it odd the bag was listed for ages and as soon as I ask for a better photo of the creed 3 minutes later it's sold? Do you recognize that bag at at as it looks like a type of station bag but it's not. The listing says it was made in the 90's but I've never seen one.

I don't think an etsy seller can mark an item as sold. They can deactivate it but I don't think it would say sold.

I can't tell for sure if there are problems. The shape of the tab might be a little off and the handle might have a little higher drop than it should. Station bags were made in the 90s. I don't know what you mean by your comment. The last picture is of a Dooney for some reason.

It looks a bit odd but it might just be overstuffed. There is nothing to prove it is fake. Personally I wouldn't buy from a seller who doesn't post clear creed pictures. I understand that you only get 5 pictures on etsy but one of them should be a creed picture.
While I agree that the pictures of the bag in the listing don't show enough to prove (or disprove) authenticity, I agree that something is sketchy about the seller (and her creeds). Although it could be the angle the picture was taken, the creed doesn't look like there are enough lines of text for what it should say.

And additional listings from hollister54 also lack pictures and details necessary for both buyers to make educated buying decisions but also for the seller to prove her honesty. It almost looks as though she makes an effort to purposely make the creeds illegible.

Personally, I'd prefer to buy from a seller who shows what needs to be shown in the first place.
