The bag is at least 25 or 30 years old, and leather from different areas of a skin can fade at different rates. When you look at vintage bags in unrestored condition you'll see a LOT of slight color differences. And zipper pulls can be replaced when they break, and Coach didn't always use massive buckles.

Fletchers weren't even introduced until the late 1990s.

I don't seen any problems with it, it's a perfectly genuine Classic Shoulder Bag 9170

Both are fine. The first is a companion bag 9300. The second is a classic pouch 9170, the inspiration for the current saddle bags. The reason the buckles are so thin is because they are solid brass, which would make them heavy if they were bigger.

The pockets are supposed to be different sizes. And that's how Coach sewed their piping. Genuine.

Spend some time at the Vintage Photos and Chat thread and learn how these bags were actually made. And read the Salearea Guides.

Hi again, could I get authentications on 3 thrifted/estate items? And where is the ‘off’ switch for vintage Coach obsession?? Aaaaah! Thank you!

First

Item: Casino bag
Seller: Estate sale
Dimensions: 8W, 5T, 2D
Comments: Turnlock pic looks silver but it's brass; “Pleated” corners, similar to convertible clutch

Genuine.

I'm not familiar with either.

With the exception of the hangtag on the second one, I'm not even sure the dog charms are labeled with "Coach"

93025 is the Enameled St Bernard.

I don't have the Bulldog in my files and the picture is just too blurry to guess if it's ok or not. There aren't any others in Google Images either and I wouldn't recommend bidding on it.

ETA - I did find this one, same details with the identical sweater but it looks more like a college team mascot to me - Georgia Bulldogs maybe? There were a few with Mini Cooper logos too, but nothing at all from Coach. The chain links don't look right for a Coach item either.

I hadn't seen these before. Thank you both!

Thank you both so much for your IDs and direction! My knowledge of styles is still limited so I'm often stumped with pre-1994 bags. Great suggestion on the Vintage thread - will do. The Salearea guide is *great* and has already helped me avoid several likely fakes. :tpfrox:

Thank you! Now that you've posted the picture, I do remember it!

So the other isn't Coach though.

I would like to know if this is an authenticate this Coach that I found on ebay. I was looking into getting this bag for my aunt. http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-Vinta...629251?hash=item1c6120e203:g:DoIAAOSwL7VWhZiE

Any information would be appreciated.

It's a genuine Capri Bag Small from the 1990 Lightweight Collection, style number 4013
Seller candyandflowers

I just want to add that the seller candyandflowers doesn't verify authenticity prior to listing her items.

She sold this fake. Showing a catalog picture that appears to match her bag does NOT mean her bag is authentic!
