Don't worry, this one's ok. It's a genuine Metropolitan Brief, style number 5180 and probably made in 1987. As the stamp says, it was made in New York City. Almost all genuine NYC bags and briefcases were made before 1988.

If you sell it, be sure to get the name, the style number and "made in NYC" or just "NYC" in the listing title. Here's the catalog page from the Holiday 1987 catalog
Hyacinth, I want to hug you! Thank you so much!
And I'm learning. I went through my collection sorted into questionable and 'trash' piles. From an earlier authentication post of yours I found another very well disguised fake in my collection! I will post them on the wall of shame (I assume that's where the fakes go?) I haven't navigated this forum too far beyond this topic. Glad I caught it before wasting time cleaning it.
So thanks again!

Can this be looked at for authenticity? It is taupe/dark gray/black/gold with serial creed # H1194-F17650. It has a black interior/patent leather accents/shiny silver hardware/rounded handles/flat strap. It has a zippered pocket on the same side that creed plaque is on & a pouch pocket on the opposite side. It measures apprx. 9.5" high X 12" wide X 5" deep. The handles measure 5" from the top of the handles to the top of the bag.

If it is authentic, does anyone know the name of it?

Actually the Wall Of Shame is for REPORTING fakes to Ebay so they can be removed. We've fould out that Ebay is more likely to listen when they receive multiple reports so we mostly post listings there that we hope will be removed before someone buys them.

As for the ones you have that you believe are fake, especially if they have one of the serial numbers on the Fake Numbers Lists, you can post pictures of the front of the bag and of the creed stamp and serial number here in this thread and we should be able to verify that they're fake from just a few photos. Fakes and genuine bags that are not so obvious will need more photos. It's probably best to get the bad ones out of the way first.

If it is authentic, does anyone know the name of it? Thank you in advance for your expertise!

Can this be looked at for authenticity please? It is gray or maybe khaki & black with a light purple satin-like interior. This has a flat, black, thick fabric strap that adjusts in length. It also has a small pocket on the front with a twist closure. The hardware & cursive "Coach" on the pocket flap are shiny silver. It measures 7.5" high X 8.75" wide. The strap measures 24" from the top of the strap to the top of the bag. This does not have a creed tag but has the small black "Made in Vietnam" tag, as shown in the picture

I also bid on this one Friday night. Crossing my fingers it's authentic because besides wanting a dark brown bag I also have been wanting a red one 😬

Authentic. I believe this was called a 24 cm signature east west duffle.
