Hi, this is my first post, so I hope I'm putting this in the correct place. I had my ebay account flagged for listing a vintage 9035 brown, USA made, bag. I had it listed as Ergo Hobo brown large shopper.

Yes, it was asked about already, go back a page:
http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-sh...e-before-posting-889527-879.html#post29894425

It's DEFINITELY fake. Even though the listing seems to have been removed, what I can see just in the 2 photos are more than enough to prove it, and pictures of the rest of the bag would probably add more proof. I didn't respond to the original post but there was no need to.

All Coaches, even older styles, are highly faked and really should be authenticated by experts before being bought or sold. We're happy to do that here at no charge as long as the poster follows forum rules - no mention of your Ebay ID or store, and no links back to your listings. Post the photos on their own and we'll tell you if they're genuine or not. It's much better than risking having your selling privileges resatricted by Ebay.

I am a bit new here and just started reading this thread after I purchased this bag this evening on eBay. Now I'm a bit worried because the serial number in my he picture the seller sent me has three dashes and I'm not sure if that happens on authentic bags. Also I read the link about deciphering the creed and saw that the prefix D8J is commonly used on fakes. I appreciate any answers you can give me.

Oops, forgot to attach the picture of the creed and now am having problems uploading it.

The seller's pictures aren't adequate for authentication.

Where did you see the creed and serial number. The seller has 6 pictures of one side of the bag, 3 pictures of the other and no pictures showing the inside, the creed, the hardware or any other parts!

here is the creed for the Ergo shopper.

That creed is fake. Ask the seller to cancel the sale.
Hmm. Sorry Morrigan3. It's not letting me include you in the multiquote. Unfortunately, the listing you posted was for a counterfeit Coach bag and ebay removed the listing.

It's a good idea to verify authenticity of any item that you didn't personally purchase directly from an authorized retailer, i.e., Macy's, Bloomingdales, Coach, etc.

ETA: And yet again, Hyacinth's fingers are faster than mine.

Thank you for responding. And the previous post was from the buyer who flagged me. I didn't post my Ebay ID, but she did, I don't even mind. i just want to know what specifically is a *flag* to you on this .I initially send her the wrong creed, one for a large black messenger bag I restored. She had already purchased the item, and then questioned it, I apologized and sent her the correct creed. I refunded her as soon as she requested it today, not because I believe it to be fake, but to re-list it. I've seen many Creed #'s with dashes, so all of those are fakes?
I've read so much conflicting information on deciphering the codes, is there an up to date info source on USA made Vintage coach serial numbers?

Yes, this is the source we trust: http://www.ebay.com/gds/Coach-Serial-Numbers-the-Basic-Facts-/10000000034886433/g.html
There is a series of guides by the same author.
Your creed is fake for many reasons. It is supposed to have a dash in the middle between the two sets of numbers, and in some cases it is okay to have a dash after "No." but those extra dashes are never okay. The font used in your creed is wrong. The stamping doesn't appear to have been done with the type of equipment Coach used. The digit "J" is in the position to indicate the factory where the bag was produced. However, the J factory wasn't used to make bags.

Thank you. I've read that article several times, guess I need to read it a few more. Is there a published factory listing, based on the letters? I purchased Coach retail in the 90's (for myself) so I'm pretty shocked (and embarrassed) this bag looks so similar to my originals.
I got burned on a newer Patchwork Coach, it's not fun. :(

I'm asking so many questions because I just purchased a large lot of purses at an estate/ moving sale, and did not expect fakes! I've also picked a few up at goodwill and consignment stores.
I don't want to carry or sell fakes! Can I post them on this site, or can you direct me to a quality authentication source?

Thank you for your help.

there is not a published list of the factory codes. That was discussed on here recently. We don't like to provide too much information that would help counterfeiters make better fakes.

You are welcome to post pictures here of your items for authentication before you list them. You aren't allowed to post links to your listings. The first post of this thread tells what we need.

No links! I'm not listing anything without prior authentications, blessings & praises. :)
Ok, the deterring counterfeiters thing makes sense, couldn't figure out why the serial numbers were so cryptic!

All are fine. The first one has a V Mexico creed if anyone wants to add that to their files. Yes, it is a classic pouch.

Second one: the seller is correct about the name, Legacy Crescent.
Third one: I have no idea what the official name is, but double courier sounds like a good guess.
Last one is a large courier pouch. Seller has correct style number.
