Good morning experts! My youngest is questioning the authenticity of a NYC-made style 5130 Station Bag that she found in the workshop (and apparently appropriated) as this one has a semi-exposed creed stamp on the forward facing surface of the front pocket (as opposed to being stamped on the inside slip pocket like another one she has). I recall that someone once provided that the early versions (early 1980s?) had this condition, but cannot find that particular posting. So I'm back looking for confirmation and any history you are able to provide.

The bag measures 9" wide x 9" tall x 2-1/2" deep with a 44" strap.

Thank you again for all your assistance.

I think it is fine. I've seen others with the creed stamped inside the pocket. I don't know if it has anything to do with being an early version. I think it was just a mistake. They stamped the creed before the bag was assembled so it would have been easy to stamp the wrong piece.

Thank you for the input. I suppose that it's purely coincidental that they positioned it such that the COACH cartouche is all that is exposed above the upper edge of the pocket It would be a nice touch and attention to detail if it was intentional.

BTW, do you happen to know when the Station Bag was first released

Sorry, but I just had to put this on here. This has to be one of the worst fakes of a station bag I have seen. Look at the cheap way they did the creed. I've reported it but they still haven't removed it.

Reported. That one deserves a spot in the Hall of Shame! The infamous "bean bag" wording in the creed...:nogood:

ETA: Seller is lucycamps
For known fakes, seller IDs and link(s) to listings should be posted on this thread:

You're welcome. I think it was just coincidental. There are later bags that have creeds stamped inside a pocket, but usually an outside pocket, and the creed is entirely hidden. For these, the outside pocket was used because there were no inside pockets. Probably 1982-1983.

Could you please authenticate these 3 GW goodies? Thank you in advance!

The second one…

Item: Legacy Maggie duffle
Dimensions: 7.5H, 6” bottom diameter, about 9.5W
Seller: Goodwill
Comments: This looks so new that I’m nervous! Does the target mean it was a full price boutique item sold at the outlet for a discount?

The last one… Thank you again!

Item: Court
Dimensions: 9W, 7T, 3.5D
Seller: Goodwill
Comments: My best guess for serial # is G8U-9870 - I even tried the corn starch trick to make it readable! Is this much variation in the stamp depth of digits unusual?

Genuine, from 1997. The target or bulls-eye stamp means that either it was sent to the outlet after being discontinued or deleted at the full-price store, or on older bags like this it could mean it was actually made to be sent directly to the Factory outlets. There's no way to tell which.

It's OK. There could be slight differences in stamping pressure, or one part of the stamp was subject to more wear than the rest.

Phew, that's great! And thank you for the clarification on the bullseye stamp. Love your commentary on here - I'm trying to absorb all I can.
