GMTA! I was just going to post something along the lines that Hyacinth posted. But she beat me to it! :D

Hey, you fired up one of my pet peeves! Normally I'm NOT a Follow-the Rules-or-Else person, but lately there has been so much insanity going on with crooked sellers changing IDs and selling venues more often than they change their knickers, or indications of our brains getting picked so some slimeballs can put money into their own pockets. Enough is enough.

I'm NOT pointing to anyone here, BTW, but things work much more efficiently when we have all the available information in front of us, including things like blogs and Facebook pages. They can be a very effective source of information. That's what Facebook was created to do in the first place, and is still doing - supplying masses of data for advertisers.

Hello Everyone,

Please authenticate my purse.
I am pretty happy with this purchase. It looks like it has only been worn a handful of times. I got it for $14.
From my studies I believe the date of this purse is 1990-1994. Am I correct?
What is the style name?

Thank you, Christine

It's a genuine Becket Zip, style 9920 and made around 1992-93.

I hope this isn't out of place and I'm not implying that Canderson22 is doing anything questionable, however it has come to our attention that some "professional" but not recommended authentication companies and facebook groups are using TPF's free authentication services then using our expertise to charge their clients for the authenticity documentation.

In fact, this is a reason why some AT subforums will only authenticate live listings, listings with links and won't deal with private facebook groups.

Again, I'm not questioning the motives in these particular posts but we here at AT Coach have been used (without our knowledge) to authenticate bags for which a company charged and payment for "their" services.

Understood. But let me be clear as to my motives here. I admin a Coach buy/sell group on Facebook. There's a group of admins with similar sites that have teamed up to make sure that zero fakes are ever posted for sale in our groups. We have several of us who are sharp enough in authenticating the more recent styles, but none of us have expertise in older and vintage bags.

A fellow admin had this bag posted to her group and asked if I knew anyone that could authenticate an older bag. I volunteered to post it here because I knew we would get the right answer.

There is no professional (or otherwise) authorization company in play here - just a group of admins who want to keep our Facebook groups safe.

Just wanted to mention that links would not work in some of these cases, as these Facebook groups are "closed groups", and non-members cannot view the posts. I apologize if I broke any rules.

Please authenticate.

Is there something missing/wrong with my post with no response?
Not all authenticators are familiar with all styles. I don't see any problems but I believe we would need a clearer picture of the creed and a picture of the label sewn inside the pocket showing the serial number in order to authenticate.

I actually was wondering if someone can help me authenticate/identify a Liebeskind bag and since this is the most popular forum and I'm not allowed to start new threads yet, decided to post here.

I bought this bag fairly cheap, but the leather quality, worksmanship and overall condition was very good. However, upon further inspection, 2 things worry me. 1, it is unlined and there is no label. 2, there is a second, faint and upside-down embossing of the word 'Berlin' above the word 'Liebeskind' if you look carefully at the last picture. And it doesn't help that I can't find the style online either.

So I'm just wonder if anyone can pretty positively tell me if this might be a sample or factory second or just a fake? Thanks in advance!

I can't authenticate the brand but I've seen Liebeskind at TJ Maxx within the last few months.

Although I wouldn't put it past the fakers because if they think there's money in it, they'll fake anything. But IMO, it's not a popular enough brand to warrant being fakes. Again, it's JMHO.

You can check this link and for brands not listed there's an Authenticate This... forum.

BTW, :welcome2:!

Where did you find the listing? I had this authenticated as a favor from another admin of a Facebook group, I'm not interested in purchasing the bag.

I happened to see that bag today while searching the shopgoodwill site. I recognized the picture immediately because I'd put it on my watchlist! Hope I didn't step on any toes here.

??? Color me confused.

Does that mean someone on Facebook was trying to sell a bag and was using Goodwill's pictures as her own?

I'm confused too...I honestly thought I was authenticating a bag someone was trying to sell, but now it seems that it's a bag someone is trying to BUY. My apologies for any misunderstandings...I was given a set of photos, with no reference to a listing anywhere.

If someone wants to buy, there's no reason why they can't come here.

ETA: This further reinforces why we want to see where the images came from.

If someone stole the pictures from another site, in this case Goodwill, and was trying to sell a bag, it would have outed that seller as a possible scammer.

Someone was thinking about using them since there are 3 photos out of the 4 that don't have any watermarks or where the watermarks can be easily cropped out. And those are the only photos the person asked about. VERY convenient. Sounds like a scammer, or Scammer-in-Training, to me too. Why try to hide where the photos came from?

Oh YEAH. We definitely will want to see links from now on. And we'll want to watch for any listings with that number or for mid-1990s Dinky Bags.

While it's always a good thing to be helpful, it's probably best in the future if we hear directly from the person who's going to be involved in any transactions. If someone's GENUINELY interested in buying or selling Coach products they can learn a lot more that will benefit them if they come here themselves rather than asking any third parties to get answers for them. We want to talk directly to the potential buyer or seller. OR scammer, if it comes to that.
