Hello ladies,
It's been quite a while since I've posted. I've just been reading along and trying to learn as much as I can. Please help to authenticate the following Willis. What's been throwing me off is the dowel. The leather covering the end of the dowel is black instead of green like the rest of the bag.

It's genuine, made in 1994. It looks like the leather piece covering the dowel was replaced.

After having gone through terrace_swing's completed listings, I found even more fakes, one with a "made in Korea" creed and serial number as well as another with a weird B5 - 834 - 64 serial number and another with an "Italian" plant serial number with US text.

I can't reiterate it enough. DO NOT BUY FROM TERRACE SWING TERRACE_SWING!

The 9981 "Watson Bag" is definitely fake. bad month code, NOT the correct font for the B plant, and I think there's a hint of indentations on the back of the turnlock when I mouse over it. The turnlock itself looks a bit "off" too.

.I agree - " TERRACE SWING " is rotten and infested with termites.

OH NO!!! I was just coming on here to ask for an authentication of a bag that I bid on last minute on a whim-- and it's from Terrace Swing!!! I almost never buy anything off of Ebay but I'm stuck home recovering from surgery and I figured it wouldn't hurt to look-- many of you probably know how that goes! In any case, I haven't paid yet so I'd like someone to please look at this listing for me. It doesn't appear to be one of the listings already mentioned.

Coach Vintage 9927 Gray Willis Leather Cross Body Messenger Bag Handbag
seller: terrace_swing
listing: 371537064881

And if it's legit, should I pay for it (as obligated by the contract of bidding) or cancel somehow?

Wait for others in case opinions on both authenticity and dealing with the seller vary.

I think the bag is okay and the price seems fair too so if you don't think you can get another comparable one in similar condition for a comparable price, you'll be okay.

If you want out, you certainly can let the seller know your concerns based on the number of fakes that were pointed out among her items and ask whether she's willing to let you off the hook.

It's up to you. (Technically, ebay policy does hold you responsible for paying for an item you won, though. However if you don't make a habit of getting unpaid item strikes, it shouldn't hurt you if the seller doesn't willingly cancel.)

It's authentic. If it were me, I would go ahead and pay. I hate to back out of a contract.

I think the entire dowel might have been replaced. It looks a little too short. Is it black on both ends?

Thank you ladies. The total is quite comparable to what my local GW store would charge for this bag (including shipping) so I don't mind the price. That's why I bid last minute. I don't like supporting dishonest sellers but I also don't like not honoring a contract without cause. As a small but rather steady seller myself I am really frustrated with the number of bidders that I've had who don't pay-- as much as 15% of my "sales"!!! With your confirmation that the bag is authentic I will go ahead with the sale. Thanks for your help and your input.

I guess I should ask for this one to be checked out too. A little background-- this bag is in pretty bad shape but I need a strap for a nice BT Willis I already own. I've searched fairly often for replacement straps and they are hard to come by. There must be some big bin somewhere filled with Coach shoulder straps and single socks! If and when straps do show up they are typically the same if not more expensive than this sad sack so I figured I'd go ahead. (And I can make use of the hardware and the tag too.)
