Please follow the following requests:
  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated by searching the seller ID and/or item number. BASIC PICTURES REQUIRED (but more may be requested): If necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to upload and duplicate them.
  • Front of item

  • Full clear and legible creed text and serial number
  • Made in tags (when available)
  • Measurements
  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock
  • For bags with magnetic snaps, show pictures of the male part of the snap so that the numbers and letters on it can be read
  • If applicable, search interior of bag and/or pockets for small white tag with production information and include a picture of that.

Hi! I'm new here, and would love some help authenticating a coach purse I found on Etsy. I'm really hoping it's for real because it's exactly what I'm looking for...

We ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY do NOT RECOMMEND BUYING FROM THAT SELLER " GUTSYGIRLS " under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. She has repeatedly (sometimes as often as SIX TIMES) and KNOWINGLY listed. RE-listed and sold fakes even after they've been removed by Ebay where she has another selling ID as " debbieB208 ".

We always tell potential buyers to search the Coach forums here at tPF for a seller's ID to find out if they're trustworthy or not. The posts about that seller and her other names " Gutsy Girl " at Etsy and " DEBBIEB208 " at Ebay would fill a phone book. Go to the main Coach forum here and run a Search for posts about them. Search all three seller IDs for just some reasons why she's NOT RECOMMENDED.

Not only does she knowingly lie about the age of some bags and then hide the creeds in her photos because they would show the right production dates, but she will also knowingly take fakes that have been removed by Ebay and list them on Etsy after Ebay has pulled the listing. I wouldn't buy from her if she was the last seller on both Ebay AND Etsy.

Thanks so much for this, Hyacinth. SO good to know... I actually corresponded with her and got some major flags when I asked her about her authentication process. So, this is a great confirmation.

And thanks for the suggestion about searching for user names. Will do that on the other bag I'm eyeing from a different seller!

Hey! I think I learned to do the quoting thing, let's see!

First, thanks for the info about the bag, and that's what it reminded me of, a fishing bag. I put it in my list to look for.

Second thanks for the suggestion of doing a search about sellers as well. :smile1: I definitely think I am in the best hands here.

You may want to make a note of the Fishing Creel style number too, it's sometimes more effective searching ebay by the number. The Nubuc is 4937 and the Natural Grain (smooth pebbled) is 4909. To search for both on Ebay, enter the following in the Seach - Advanced Search box exactly like this and select the Clothing Shoes and Accessories category from the drop-down box:

coach (4937,4909)

Etsy's Search procedure is probably a bit different.

Welcome to TPF. Unfortunately, you picked a seller to ask about for whom we have very strong opinions. And evidently, she doesn't care because if she did, she would have come here (even if just to read and learn) so she wouldn't make the same mistakes over and over.

My guess is that she does know which of her bags are questionable and as such, doesn't show creed photos of them. That way, it's often difficult to "prove" they're fake until after the purchase and only then if the buyer questions it.

The one redeeming factor in the case of debbieb208 is that her ebay account is no longer allowed to list designer bags on ebay. I think she's permanently restricted from adding new listings. The only Coach bags she has are items that she's been auto-relisting since October. Those listings were allowed to remain but she can't list more. :laugh:

BEWARE!! Now that she's banned from listing on ebay, she's selling elsewhere.
Note that she's also selling on her facebook account, Gutsy Girls LLC where she'll continue to try to find unwitting buyers for her fakes. I see some of the previous fakes listed there.
